BRIGHTON MARATHON... eeek

So, in my infinite wisdom a while back, I registered for the Brighton marathon. In my continued infinite wisdom when the places were released this morning, I signed up. Now? I'm panicking.

I know I've plenty of time to train between now and next April, but I'm currently comfortable running 5km having completed C25K last year. Can anyone recommend any training plans for 5km to marathon distance. I'll gradually increase to 10km between now and Christmas then start real training in new year.

TIA

Congratulations on a successful place in the Brighton Marathon next April, no need to panic, for starters you can start with Ju Jus Bridge to 10K plan, there is another post from UnfitNoMore about that.

In the New Year you will be able to go for a training for a marathon plan.

Yep, def do it in chunks, start with the magic 10k plan now, get that under your belt, then work towards 10 miles, then HM, then press on...! 👍🏻💪🏻😁

Time is on your side... and you’re running 5k comfortably... so just do that 7 more times and have a tough 2k to finish 🤣

We are, as AlMorr says starting a group following Ju-Ju-‘s plan on November 9th... or you can just get cracking on it now... there’s a sub group affectionately named the Christmas Crackers that have just started and will be a few weeks ahead of the main group that have joined us, and the more the merrier in my opinion. That’s 8 weeks, then maybe a little consolidation and then still plenty of time to hit up the marathon plan. I’d recommend taking a HM in during the training... a lot of marathon plans say “run a HM” about a month before the big one, and there’s a lot of HMs about.

Stay well on top of the strengthening and flexibility work, the one thing you need to do is keep the injury risks as low as possible.

Enjoy your journey.
