Would have been a fabulous morning ☀️ for my first ever ‘Event’ - Fairhaven Flyer 10K but North West restrictions it has understandably seen it cancelled ☹️
Oh well, it was perhaps a little too early in my running really being honest (and being a lone runner so far it was also to be my first run with a friend and ‘in public’ 🤪) but was what gave me the incentive to do the gradual build up and complete my first two 10Ks in prep.
Anyway, deferred to next year 🤞but think I will run the course in a few weeks just cos.
Keep on running 🏃♀️ 😊

Such a pity that your first Event Fairhaven Flyer10K race was cancelled, this morning my local 10K was due to be run but like everything else it was also cancelled, even the Spring running events of next year are very questionable if they will go ahead, the word 'virtual' is now the word that everyone is using, good luck for your viritual 10K in a few weeks. 😊 🏃🏾
Sorry your local 10K was cancelled too. Yes seems we’re living in a ‘virtual‘ world atm. Was hoping at the start to do a Park Run, never imagined a 10K would be doable. Thanks, need to keep going and maybe at some point I might actually run with real people 😁
Same happened with me! That was my motivation to complete magic plan but I’m also going to try run the route in my own time in October. Keep going! You got this
Yes same, was my motivation too but have seen the fab medal with its spinning Spitfire blades so at least a bit of bling 🏅 Onwards to 2021! You keep going too. We’ve got this 👍
It is really tough. I have really struggled with my running over the past few months as there is just nothing to train for. I have zero interest in taking part in Virtual anything. Well except the (not)parkrun every Saturday morning. I would have done a few 10K events during spring and summer, and even had entered a 13K mountain run in November which of course will be cancelled too.
But this COVID-19 shambles will come to an end some day. It will take time, but we will all come through this together. And events will be back, you will get to experience the buzz of completing a 10K event, fill your wardrobe with race T-Shirts and medals and go to parkrun. All we can do for now is stay safe, keep running and look after our loved ones.
I’m not sure I like this virtual world either but as Grannyhugs said above, entering this one did serve its purpose as am not sure I would have got to 10K without it to spur me on. Just need to keep motivated and going 🤪. Might feel stronger and more confident by the time Events open up again, esp Park Run, and now you’ve mentioned T-Shirts and medals.......
You’re right, we just need to get through this madness. Stay safe too 🏃♀️🏃♂️
Sorry to hear that your first 10k event in cancelled. Remember though that these things are the icing on the cake. Sure, they’re sweet, but the real thing we need is the cake, and that’s the journey. You’ve done a great job in preparation, so go run that course and celebrate it just the same as if we were all lining the streets and watching you. When the event goes ahead next year, you’ll be an even more seasoned runner, and that icing will taste even sweeter.
Now, I’m suddenly hungry for some reason, best see if we have any cake 🤣
