So I graduated from c25k a couple months ago. I managed to keep up with the running and was able to complete 5km in 34min.
I took two weeks off from running as just wanted a break and now am paying the price. Went for a 5k run yday which nearly killed me!!! 42min!!!! ππ
I wanted to start the magic 10K plan tomorrow but I donβt know which route to take now - timed or distance??? I think I will need to run a couple weeks to get into sync again. Any advice??? π§π§ ππ½ββοΈππ½ββοΈππ½ββοΈ

Hi Peet, yes do a couple of weeks consolidation then hop on the bridge to 10km program. It is normally by distance, but you could write your own program out for times if you want to. Or start the 10km program straight away but take it easy. You don't have to be fast. Your times will naturally get better as you run more anyway, but slow and steady is better for long distances. Good luck.
Hi there. So I went for a run today and I managed c25k in 40 min- improvement. I have decided to do a few more consolidated runs to get back to my normal speed. Delly-dot below suggested doing the timed plan and then move onto the distance plan when I feel comfortable. That way not putting too much pressure on myself, but in control. I would love to eventually do the 10K but will take it slow. Thanks for your support, greatly appreciated ππ½
Thanks - Ju-Ju has done both plans - a timed one to cover 60mins running altogether or a 10K to cover the distance. I think Iβm going to have to do some 5k runs just to get into the groove again! π
Maybe get back to speed and then try the distance one. Gosh choices choices.....but note to me next time not to have a long break from running πππ
Take care, run a few short ones before getting back to longer runs, just proves being off running for more than a week can make you feel so tired after a 5K run and affect your time as well.
Thank you. I know Iβm gutted at how slow and painful it felt the other day after having a break. Yes I think I should start of consolidating a few more 5k runs to get back into it. Then see if I could tackle one of the programs. Might be a week or two behind but hey better to be safer. Thanks again.
You could always do both! π
Many people start with the timed version and complete it by running for 60 minutes, then slot into the distance version of the plan to work towards 10k. That's what I did and it is working really well for me. When I completed the timed version my 60 minute run distance was 7.9k, so I slotted into the distance version of the plan at week 4 as the longest run for that week is 8k. I am now in week 5 of the plan.
Completing the timed version of the plan and then joining the distance version at the point of your longest distance allows you to continue making progress and it feels comfortable. Hope this helps and good luck π
Oh thatβs a really good plan. Never thought of that. Yeah maybe me doing timed and then seeing the distance I cover before slotting into the distance program. Thereβs no race I suppose to complete. Thanks. Really useful ππ½
Yes I think from the advice of given I need to do a couple of consolation runs first. Then will reassess. Wanted to do the distance, am worried feels a lot but I suppose itβs not a race, itβs a guide to support you. Thanks for the advice. Fingers crossed be back out there soon ππ½ββοΈπ
Youβll soon be back to your best time and beyond. The body will adjust as you go along.
Jujuβs magic plan has been brilliant for so many! Iβm doing a 10k plan myself, but deliberately over a much longer period. Iβm using it to get me into the winter running and hopefully it will be the key to continue on running regularly from there. For me, the time is not what I would focus on. I just like the surprises to arise and they do.
Hi sweets, nice to hear from you. Yeah I think I need to do a few more consolidation runs first and then see how I feel. Delly-dot above suggest a good plan that maybe start running and then see how much distance you cover then switch. I suppose itβs no race it a plan for guidance. Back to running again now that schools have opened, no excuse now ππππ€£
