Magic Plan, W3 begins!

I really wasn't feeling the running love this morning, too grey, too drizzly, just bleugh. But after reading a few posts on the C25K for inspiration, I set off to the local woods determined to get this week's short run under my belt. I squelched my way round the main path, then took a spur path that I haven't run for months. That was a lot nicer underfoot, leaves and grass, rather than mud and puddles. It makes such a difference to enjoyment levels! Finished off with the big uphill, photo is me modelling my treat for completing Week 2 - my new running jacket which I am very pleased with. ☺ Going to change my route for Wednesday's run because I can't face 7km of mud!

Understand about the mud . . . it was the local park for me this morning rather than my preferred countryside route, otherwise there is the whole job to be done of cleaning shoes and running gear when you get back home :(

Shoes are currently drying out near a radiator, I will vacuum them when dry. It's not so much the cleaning up after, it's the slipping and sliding alarmingly, I'm scared of breaking a leg! My local Parkrun venue has a 10k running trail that's all signposted through the forest so I'm thinking of going there and hoping it's a lot less muddy. The local woods have had the logging vehicles in recently which has churned up the paths and left it very rutted. Good for balance skills but not great for running. :(

Liking the idea of the treat 😊 Jacket looks good 👍🏻 I just ran on pavements today, avoiding the mud - drier but not as pretty!

I really should get over my fear of pavements. I'm scared of hurting my knees...

Probably a sensible approach in truth. I’ve had bad knees in the past, but in fact I think the running is strengthening them! Despite the pavements 😁

Nice jacket! It's only Monday, I've only done one run yet I'm already thinking about this week's treat...🤔

I wouldn't mind the mud if it wasn't slippy. I actually quite like having a shower after a muddy run as having to wash away mud makes the run seem more real, like I'm a proper runner who gets muddy rather than a fair weather one! 😊

Yes, it's the slipping that spoils the fun! Know what you mean about washing the mud off and feeling like a "proper" runner, I've just done exactly that!

All that mud must make your runs tough, do you think?

Great for getting out and finishing your run. 🤗🤗

Hate all the mud!! Glad you were able to find a better route today. Loving the colour of your new jacket 😊

Thanks Jacca, I am so pleased with my new jacket, it makes me feel like a proper runner! Zip pockets and fluorescent piping, very snazzy!

It was vile out this morning, wasn't it? But I went out and had a great time too: splashed through a few puddles and ended up with wet feet but felt as if I'd totally nailed it. Love the jacket - it looks really good. I treated myself to a proviz last week and I feel very shiny and reflective in it - just what you need at this time of year! Also, by splashing out (excuse the pun!!) I think I'll be mega determined! I can't have a proviz jacket and not be able to run 10k, can I!

Exactly, marmalade monster - we owe it to our new gear to get that 10k in the bag! 😂
