Hi everyone, fairly new here to Bridge to 10k.

Going to have a go at 10k but have adapted Ju Ju’s plan to hopefully make it work for me. Reason being I’m not confident about the weekly increases and want to take a bit more time to make sure I don’t overdo it.

Therefore finished week 1 today and heading to start week 2 on Wednesday, increasing each long run by 0.5k only, otherwise roughly the same as the standard one.

Hoping it all works as well as I think, so in 9/10 weeks I should be there🤞🤞

Good luck . The plan is there as a guide and you can adjust it to suit. 😊

Thanks for that, now I feel slightly better.

BTW, well done on your 10kPB, might be me someday. 😁

I did exactly the same as you. I ran 5K x 3 times per week and then picked one of these runs as a long run and each week added 500 meters onto it. And I got there. Good luck, take it easy and go along at a nice comfortable pace. Enjoy the journey.

Great idea! I would like to extend my distance now but the increases looked very large week on week. Don’t mind taking longer as we’re in this for the long haul.

Exactly my thoughts, and being slightly older this will be a lot kinder. Good luck with what you decide. 👍🤞

Great start on the Bridge. Very sensible plan to adapt this to your confidence level... for anyone reading, there’s nothing wrong with breaking a plan down to reach a target a little more gradually, we just need to be careful doing the opposite!

You’ll cross the bridge in style and on your terms... have an amazing journey over it.

Thank you for that lovely reply. That itself gives me some hope that this is attainable for me..

Will probably update my progress on a weekly basis.

We’d love to read the progress reports. You may have hope that you’ll achieve this, but we all have confidence that you will. You can run any distance you choose to so long as you bring some determination and have a good plan!

That sounds like a good plan H-G; that’s the beauty of the magic plan, you can organise the plan to suit your own running style! And doing it in bite size pieces means there’s less likelihood of disappointment or injury, so go you and conquer! And let us know how it all works out!

Thank you so much. I can’t quite believe the amazing support I have had here today. It has absolutely convinced me that I will get there but with a longer timescale.

Just seen your post.

I've signed up for ju-jus Magic 10 plan starting Friday but am having second thoughts now.

I've run several 5ks already and a few longer runs up to 6.25k but the total amount of weekly mileage looks quite high on the plan. I worry about that a bit.

I'm sure I can get to 10k (how's that for positive thinking?) but am thinking I might try and come up with an adapted version like yours.

Hi, we’ve obviously got the same doubts. I’m going to adapt to doing a 4K, 5k and then a longer run. Finished that yesterday with approx 6k. Wk 1 done. Next week a 4K, 5k and then just adding on to my longer run what i feel like, possibly 500m. Going to take my time And I WILL get to 10k sometime but with no hard pushing myself.😱🤞. Hope that makes sense and helps you decide. I feel it’s better to enjoy this bridge rather than hating every run because it’s pushing me too far.
