I have been working towards 10k and have been doing a couple of 5ks in the week then a longer Sunday run. As the only distance tracker i currently have is my phone which i cant see when running i dont know how far i have been until i get home. So last Sunday i went 9.25km and this week i went the same route until the end and then went round the small block to make up the difference to 10k. Got in the house, did stretches etc and my phone said 9.9km! I am happy to be able to run and can obviously do 10k but how annoying is that! (picture is part of the wood i run in taken a fee weeks ago)
Happy but sad/annoyed with myself: I have been... - Bridge to 10K

I can totally understand that, how frustrating . . . it sounds like you need a GPS watch like a Garmin, I would be totally lost without mine.
Before I bought my GPS watch (which I can highly recommend), I used strava on my phone. I set alerts so that a voice told me when I had completed each km, and it also told me what my average pace was.
You just need a phone and earplugs, and the voice cuts into your music too.
Enjoy your running.
thanks. i am looking at watches at the moment . I was going to wait and have as a birthday present but not sure i will wait that long...
Fantastic effort, allowing for rounding errors in the phone recording distance I'd call that a great 10kπ€. Well done, happy running π€
You need a watch!
I just did a 5 k run, only to be told by my Fitbit, I had only run for 10 mins, the rest I walked. Arrrrr. I check with βon the go β before I go out. That way I know how far Iβm running before I start.
Oh dear.... definitely time for a watch! Never mind - that 10k will be all the sweeter when you do it on your next run!
That must be very frustrating indeed, but well done on a great run.
I've got a fitbit and have it set up so that it alerts me through my headphones every km.
I find it handy throughout the run, but especially at the end for obvious reasons.
Oh, I feel your frustration. That is really annoying.
Strava's GPS went a little loopy on me a couple of times during C25k and turned me into Wonderwoman with completely unachievable PBs ππ.
I treated myself to a Garmin runner's watch when I graduated and it gives me a reliable (and realistic π) record of each run. The GPS hasn't let me down yet. It links with Strava so I have a good record of all my runs (both prewatch and postwatch) as I like to have a record of my progress.
If it was up to me, I think you pretty much have that 10k in the bag. I'm still working towards (dreaming of) my first 10k...... but I can imagine that if you're anything like me, you'll be out there in a couple of days doing it all again, only this time you'll run just that little bit extra and nail it ππ.
thanks. i am looking at getting a watch so might have to get one earlier than planned. I will be doing it again next Sunday so will go that little bit further to ensure its 10k. I so nearly went the longer way home but cut up thinking I would of done it easily. frustrating really. good luck with reaching your 10k.
I use endomondo on my phone (which didn't cost anything). I don't bother with headphones much now but I check the distance before I switch off at the end of the run so if I'd got to 9.9 I would have run up and down the road just to finish it off before going in the house to stretch. Just mentioning it in case you want a temporary solution until you get your birthday treat!
I use my phone, got some wireless headphones and use Strava with .5 km notifications. I suffer from arthritis and canβt wear one of those fancy watches, itβs too painful on my wrist, but would still love one as Iβm a stats girl and would love to see heart rate etc that they can measure. Well done on your run, youβll nail the 10k next one!
