My pal and decided to go for a not Parkrun this morning down in Deal, first time since lockdown. She is younger and faster than me and been doing it a lot longer, so I let her forge ahead and just kept moving.
So very pleased with new pb of 33.49, but it was 20 degrees, so hot despite a bit of sea breeze. Shows that all that hill and distance running is paying off a bit.
Definitely prefer running in the cold, but overall pleased with progress after injury break.
So much of running is psychological, I now know I can run 5 k and I can afford to push myself a bit and still complete it. If I can run 8 or 10k with hills, I can speed up a bit on a 5k without blowing up...
Keep going old girl is my mantra...

Well done on your not parkrun. A group of 5 of us do this at various speeds so we set off at different times so that we finish around the same time. Very convenient for post run coffee.
What a good idea! Going to repeat in 8 weeks when I hope to go faster... I am 64 and only started c25k last September whereas my pal as l is 56 and been running for 4 years (she is also more of a natural runner) and comes in 6 min earlier than me, so is waiting for me as I trundle into the finish!
Doing some longer runs in between, but difficult with the heat at the moment
I will suggest this to her for our repeat run at end of September
