My VRBs are having so much fun over here so I have plucked up the courage and put a tiptoe on the bridge ........
Hidden bravely stepped over this morning post-injury, as has Roxdog . Hidden is back, Fionamags has celebrated her fantastic 60minutes graduation run here today and Buddy34 ran an amazing 10k PB today too. Allbarron is working her way brilliantly through roseabi's bridging plan a few weeks ahead of me, so it's all going on over here! So here goes.....
Today I ran my 30 minute run, the middle run of week 4 in roseabi's helpful bridging plan. The three runs of the plan have kind of fallen into three categories for me:
πββοΈ the short 20 minute run is my "quicker one" where I aim to pick up my pace a bit
πββοΈ the 30 minute run is "my housekeeping run" where I aim to keep on top of things but hope to improve a little over time (a bit like with the real housework! π)
πββοΈ the final run of the week is the run that gradually increases in duration each week (each week is repeated once) and will eventually blend cleverly with ju-ju's Magic Plan which I hope will get me to run for 60 minutes.
This morning's run could have been better, probably as a result of the G&T and two glasses of red wine with yesterday's Sunday dinner π, however I finished it and my lesson has been learned. My next run is a repeat of last week's long run for 40 minutes. I loved this run last week as I reached 5km for the first time.
So here I am, looking forward to my next adventure and posting now so that I feel I am heading over the bridge in the right direction and I don't turn back! ..... π€πΌπ.
Hello Delly-dot. Your running is going great by the sound of it. Hope you enjoyed your dinner with drinks, its good to let loose now and again.
I don't really drink alcohol anymore but when at Oban this time last year I tried pink gin, lemonade, ice and a slice of lime it was delicious. Good luck with your running plan ππ
Thanks Buddy. The pink gin sounds lovely π. Yesterdayβs drinks was a little more than Iβm used to and it showed π. I canβt manage much as I get all flushy and hot π₯΅ !
Yay DD...welcome. Managed to shave a minute off my run two days ago. Now I have to get my A**** into gear to keep doing it. Look forward to seeing you get your 10 k grad badge
Welcome to the other side!! Congratulations on your progress and you'll be here a good while. Settle in and keeeeep running π you'll get to where you want to go!

Thank you GTFC. It is good to be here, although I have to confess to being a lurker for a while! Nice to start posting though today, the first of many I hope..... π
Thank you Oldgirlruns. It is great to join you all π.
What a great post Delly-dot, thank you for your great βgathering folks together skillsβ there, it really helps to feel like we have our VRBβs running by our side to tackle this new challenge.
Itβs so encouraging to see those up ahead with PBβs and personal goals turned into fantastic achievements.
Keep coming over that bridge now, every run and every runner counts π€
PS how do you refer to other runners in a post?

Thanks Mrs Jorge. I think there's a great camaraderie on here!
To tag others on your posts type @ immediately followed by the name you want to mention without a space, eg @jorgeRuns . A box opens up at the bottom of the reply box and you click on the name you need. The name will then replace your typing and become blue π.
That's you across now DellyD - great to see you! You actually don't have too long to go before getting to 60 mins. Looking forward to reading more of your adventures!!
Great to see you took the plunge!! You'll sail through Delly. You're already doing amazing. Hope all goes well in the long run. I'm afraid I don't do too well if I've had a G&T. Still you got our there. I'm hoping my rested knee good to go Wednesday π€π€
I should have stopped at the G&T, or just had a glass of wine.... It's a while since I've had both π. The older I get the lower my tolerance. I just spend the night hot flushing too which doesn't help π€. Fingers crossed for your Wednesday run π€πΌβΊοΈ.
Welcome over the bridge, itβs lovely here. It sounds like you are having great fun already and progressing well with your runs. Keep up the good work. Happy running π€
Glad to see you here Delly-Dot. It sounds like you have really good plans and I like the categorisation of your 3 runs!
It didn't feel that the couch to 5k forum was the place to be discussing the longer runs and plans to run to 10k.
I'm not sure if this coming back from injury runner is now heading for 10k any time soon, but this us a great, supportive forum too, with lots of interesting stories and ideas!
Good luck with your runs. (I seem to be fine after my last, slightly longer run, but am going to use some of the short guided runs on the Nike Run Club I think to make sure I don't run for too long, if they don't annoy me!)
Yes, I know what you mean about the 5k forum. I've felt a little in limbo on my last few posts, not sure where to post my runs. Good luck with your runs; it sounds like you have a good plan too π.
Yes, me too. I promised I wouldn't disappear and that I would keep cheering them on as well π. We have a great little network going here and it really does make all the difference.
Great post I came over a couple of weeks ago and am loving the bridge... I do similar to you in your plan but I love your categorisation of the runs.
I start the week with the Housekeeping run (which is how I shall see it from this point on) pop the long run in the middle and reward myself with the short run at the end of the week, and like you try to knock a little time off the average pace.
I like the variety of the runs, although on roseabi's advice I do repeat each week at the moment so that I can consolidate the longer run before moving on. roseabi said those of us following the plan may feel less of the need to do that when we reach the 45 minutes marker, but I'm in no hurry.
I love your post π For some reason it reminded me of the children's book about the Three Billy Goats Gruff trip trotting over the bridge worrying about the troll underneath! No idea why it brings this to mind.... Now I'm wondering what that says about me π€£π€£
Anyway really well done you've been working hard on your plan and it seems to be working for you.
I'm really not sure where I'm heading at the moment.
I had The Three Billy Goats in mind too - so what does that say about us both!
How about crossing the bridge with me? I started to think it was time to head this way when I finally did my 5k and you have also done yours. It didn't feel quite right to post about heading towards longer runs on the 5k forum, so that finally made my mind up. Come and join us ππββοΈ.
Oh that sounds like I'm being tempted to get caught by the Trolls! π€£π€£
I remember writing in a reply to someone a while ago that I had no interest in running 10k, but the other day I did catch myself wondering if I could run 5 miles, (my brain doesn't work in k's) so it was only when I checked I realised 10k was just over 6 miles π
There are more badges here too. They'll look great with ur new tights! You also have to buy yourself something when you run for 60 minutes then I think a real biggie when u hit 10k!!!! Badges and shopping is the main thing here - running is just the sideline. ππππ
Welcome Delly-dot! π Youβll definitely find this to be an amazingly friendly forum and I hope you like posting on here and catching up with everyoneβs progress!
Your training plan is pretty much how I got from 5-10k, 10k-10 miles, then 10 miles-HM, and I have news - it works! πββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈ
Enjoy your running, youβre doing brilliantly. π
Thank you for your encouraging words! I don't know if I have a HM in me, but who knows?! I'll settle for aiming for 10k for the moment ππββοΈ!
Thank you. I have to admit that I have been lurking and that I did one post way back after graduating from C25k, but injury scuppered my progress and my confidence a little, but I have made it now π.
Hi Delly-dot, I remember that bridge crossing myself very well....it feels scary, but it's just us, who have graduated and still love to run, or are a runner on pause( thank you Fabulous450 π)
Good luck with your bridging plan as you build up your running time/distance.
We love to read run reports on here, and will be cheering you all the way!
Your yoga practice will be very helpful too, I wish I had started sooner.
Hey Delly-dot!!!! ππ½ππ½ππ½! Welcome to the bridge!! Rest assured the VRBβs here are all amazing and we still cheerlead in the C25K too.
One thing Iβve learned is that distance, time and achievements are individual to you and every single running group is just brilliant!!! Iβve not done any kind of marathon, but I do pop in to the Marathon group and congratulate lots of my VRBβs, who have run some amazing distances and times.
Hi Fabulous450 and thank you for such a lovely welcome π! This forum is great!
I am enjoying running with roseabi's plan at the moment, although I did deviate from it a little today and enjoyed a new milestone (I'm going to post in a moment), so perhaps I will become a freer and easier runner like you too, in time. I like your relaxed approach, it sounds good π.
