Week one run one magic 10

My other post on this was long and rambling and failed to post so forgive me if there ends up being 2 on here. Out at 6am due to forecast gales and heavy rain later this morning. Not an enjoyable run, a bit of a slog and very slow. Cadence was 167 average to 174 top. Would this have any bearing? Took 20 mins to do the 2.5k so still undecided between the distance/timed plan. See how the rest of the week goes

Don't worry some runs just feel like a bit of a slog as you say, I still get them from time to time. Enjoy completing the plan whatever you decide 😊👍

Oooooooooh

Garmin alert!!!!

How did you find your first run with it??

Yes, give yourself a few runs to see how you go moving forward. Your cadence seems good to be and higher than mine. I just try and land as lightly as I can but still stomp and lumber about but take shorter strides now. Anyway, well done. 20 mins is 20x better than none.

I’m not sure I fully understand cadence but I thought the higher it is the faster you go? Not so here 😂 yeah it’s a fab watch so glad I bought it 😊

It's more the higher it is the less impact on the knees I think. I'm no expert so if I'm honest I don't really look until after. I try to keep light if I can.

Aah that’s why I run the way I do I have dodgy knees. No problem with them this time round

Cadence, in running terms, is simply the number of steps taken per minute. Whilst having a high cadence might indicate a high speed, it also depends on stride length.

Foot always falls under my body so short stride 😂

Don't worry about cadence. Aim for your time of continuous running or running distance.

Enjoy the bridge! 👍😁👍
