Hello and a huge welcome to week 4 of the 10 is the Magic Number 10k plan. How are you all doing? We are now half way in...Can you believe it?!!
Itβs great reading about how you are getting on, you are all doing so well. Please keep posting or reply and let me know how you are getting on. So, here is this weeks vid, and this weeks top tip is: Mantras
I was not at parkrun this morning Ju Ju, however, I did manage to get out two hours after breakfast and run, run 2 of week 4 of your Magic10, a 30 minute run trying to avoid the worst of the mud and puddles, the run was nice despite the cold wind, ran between the showers, got home and the next shower came on.
Earlier on before breakfast I did another plank, it was just a straight 3 minute elbow plank, tomorrow morning I will vary it between the full high, elbow, right and left side one, remember that I have been doing planks for some time now, also, last May I did UnfitNoMore's 100 push up a day challenge for a month.
I have fallen behind on the magic plan but am determined to get back on it this week. The kids will be back at school from Monday which will make it easier to fit my runs in. Parkrun done this morning so that's the 5k done and dusted. βΊ
Hi Ju-ju. Iβm a run behind after feeling a bit under the weather earlier in the week. But I got my 44min run in today and was pleased with that. Just my short run to do then I can tick off week 3. Hope everyone is surviving in this windy weather. It seems to be in my face both on the way out and on the way back π§
I did my 44 minute run yesterday but I wasnβt really feeling it and only really finished by sheer will power, felt fantastic afterwards for a while and then needed to go back to bed for a bit π The thought of doing 50 minutes next Saturday is a bit intimidating if Iβm honest but I have no doubt I will do it anyway, quite liking the mantra idea though!
Well done, and for next week can you see if you can take it slower... it will mean you will find it more manageable and it wonβt tire you as much. You are doing really welll, and half way through this week πβ
Finished week 3 yesterday so now looking to week 4, upping our game ever so slightly each week! I have felt more determined on this challenge to get the runs done - venturing out in the blustery rain a few times and thinking βwhat on earth am I doing running in this?!β But the feeling of achievement when youβre back in the warm, get the yoga stretches done and can have a warm reviving shower is great!! Onto week 4 then...πππββοΈ
Hi Ju Ju. I have completed week 3. I am very happy with my progress but still think I will struggle to do 10k in a good time. Taking 50 mins for 7k but at least not stopping so all good!
This plan isnβt about how long it takes to do 10k, itβs about doing it.... you can work on speed afterwards if you choose to. And your time for a 7k sounds great... please donβt worry about speed....
Conditions on Sunday meant a family walk, so we agreed Idrun for the first 50 mins. So week 4 long run done ish... I was much slower than normal tackling all of the hills in Etherow Country park and while I'd watched your mantra tip I hadn't nailed it and stopped an walked a couple of times in the soggy muddy conditions I encountered. I didn't know where I was and had to find husband and kids around 50 mins in to the walk. I did enjoy the scenery and I'm sure it counts because my total walk and run distance was 15kπ
So pleased to have stuck to this plan - after completing C25K last summer and running 5- 6 K 3-4 times a week until November, the months in between felt like a complete washout. The once a week run I was managing in January was wiping me out and I couldn't understand how I had ever been able to run every other day or even every day sometimes last year. OMG the difference now after running 3 times a week - it's all in the consistency isn't it? It's so much more enjoyable when I don't feel like I'm going to die every time! Second run of week 4 completed this morning!!!
So, I've made the decision to pause on the magic plan... since the start I've been hit with one cold after another (another one this week) and I still haven't finished week 2. I feel like I'm not doing myself or the plan any justice. So, I'm going to give it 2 or 3 weeks, keep running when I feel germ free enough, and hopefully by then I'll be fit and well enough to give it a proper go!
So I've fallen behind a bit. Did my 44 minute timed run of week 3 yesterday and struggled although I did 7k. I thought I was running slowly but apparently not. At the time I thought if I ran any slower I'd stop. I've got the other long run to do which will again will be hard but I've done it before so I can do it again. I've just looked at week 4 and I'm liking the look of that! π
Week 4 Run 1 of Ju-Jus magic running plan, 44 minutes today - went just fine ππ€οΈ.
I had a cold for the last few days, so I decided to not run 50 minutes but to stick to the times of week 3 (44-30-20). I don't care if I need 8 weeks or 10 weeks to get there! I will get there for sure!
Next goal running 60 minutes, sometime in April.
I am still posting on Instagram with #jujusmagicrunningplan if somebody wants to join π
I started Magic Plan late after completing C25K in mid March and am really enjoying the focus of the course. I had been aiming to run in a local 10k in May that I used to help organise - I was looking forward to finally seeing the route that we spent hours discussing in meetings! Clearly that isn't going to happen now but it is keeping me motivated and hopefully it will take place eventually.
I was really dreading the 7k run last week (finding every excuse going to try to talk myself out of it) but I explored a new route and ended up running through the centre of my town which was eerily and reassuringly quiet; it felt good and I am feeling positive about 8k on Tuesday. I also got a PB during my pretend Parkrun yesterday, including the hill which has become my friend and foe - this running thing seems to have clicked!
