Hi Ju-ju- sorry about your work woes. Hope the exhaustion is alleviating a little.
I'm no stranger to injuries either although mine is an underlying issue that I've had for years and I always thought was my knee but turns out to be lower back. I've been seeing a physio for the last few weeks and it's really helped & given me the confidence to try some downhill running that I had previously been avoiding.
Waffling a bit. Really enjoying the plan 2nd time around and I can see that I am going to be on track for my St Pat's 10K run, which is a great goal to have.
Morning, I certainly am also feeling that winter is dragging on! I’ve done 3 7k runs now- taking it slowly and each one has felt really hard. For some reason it feels like a big leap up to 8k, although I know it’s not.
There does feel like there’s some sense to taking it a bit easier at this time of year to not leave ourselves more prone to colds/flu etc. So i’m going to keep listening to my body and take it steady.
The squats deffo caused knee pain for me so I’ve stopped them.
Hope you become more energised over the coming weeks and look forward to reading how everyone’s getting on.❤️👍
I can't tell you how happy it makes me that the days are getting longer! Not long now and i will be back to morning runs in daylight! Bring it on & goodbye winter!
January was a great month for me in achieving running goals - so let's hope i can continue in February...I am not letting winter beat me.
I still hate planks - but i am improving - which means it's working.
I’m still following the plan ju-ju, but jumped ahead a little as it’s obviously not my first journey to 10k. So my long run is now going to be 10k until the end of the plan! I did it yesterday (you saw my post) and I’ll be doing 4k including intervals on Thursday, and parkrun at the weekend. 😀🏃♀️👍
I don’t mind planks too much. Squats aren’t my favourite, but I love jumping! My cat and dog wonder what I’m up to! 😅
The running is going well - I have just started Week 6 as I started the challenge a bit early and I'm going to be away at the end of Feb so didn't want to fall behind. The 8K runs have gone well, though the second one was in very windy conditions! Have been a bit remiss about the strengthening exercises - take your point about the importance of them to improve strength and hopefully avoid injury. Will try to do better! Hope your work life settles down and you can enjoy the slightly lighter mornings and evenings. Roll on Spring! 😀👍🏃♀️🌸🌼🌷
Planks and squats are fine. Still losing my balance with jumps but I’ll persevere because I know my brain can figure it out eventually. After all I relearnt to walk and run. 🙂. Running has been a bit all over the place. I’ve done 3 runs each week in the times but wasn’t well end of last week so the 50 minute run was awful I didn’t get far at all but I did do it! But feeling better this week and have managed the first two distances ok. But will just do the time for the last one as my pace is really slow and I’d be running for hours to get to 8k. It will just be about 6k I expect in 50 mins.
Hope you feel better soon. It’s horrible when work does that to you. I never used to feel I was paid enough to feel so exhausted at times. Hopefully it will get better soon for you.
Hi. Ah, I hope work starts to get easier for you. I honestly don't know how you do it all really!! all the exercise you are doing... forum stuff ....AND work ! you never seem to stop
Well I'm sad to say that I've fell by the wayside, and no longer really on the program. Due to my tight hamstrings I had some time off, and gaps in runs. I was doing really well as well upto about 2nd week of jan. I have been trying to a few planks tho. I did park run on Saturday and plan on another 2 runs this week. I will try harder now!! also have a lot going on at work and home
I have just done the 8k of week 4 of Magic 10 and I am so happy 😁 I found the last k tiring but am enjoying the fact that I did it now! I hope your work calms down for you soon! I don’t know how you do it all... working and running and then being here with your magic plan ... thank you 😊
Ooops... I thought the long run was 9k this week. (I'm a day or so early as I do my long run at the weekends)
Did 9k but was all fine apart from being soaked threw from the rain
I pulled something in my bumcheek playing football with the kids at the end of last summer, it was ok then I did it again doing karate kicks! It's been improving but I do feel it niggle a little on the longer runs, you have reminded me to keep up with my daily bum strength and stretches (and less stupid kicks )
Your trail runs look similar to mine Ju-ju I find it nicer than the road runs I do and have got used to wet muddy feet!
Hi, still following the plan did my second 8k yesterday and felt really good. Also doing my 5k at parkrun on Saturdays and improving my times and working on intervals on the shorter runs. The only niggle I have got is a pain in my heel, the pain goes when I start running but when I’m resting it’s quite painful. If anyone has any suggestions on what I could do to alleviate the pain would be really appreciative. Thanks
Hope things are calmer for you. Life does get really hectic at times. I managed 8k yesterday but not the easiest as had to use treadmill 😓. I tried 8k outdoors Saturday but had legs like lead so at 6.5k just had to stop. My 8k on treadmill had a couple of 5 second walks in it but I am still counting it as I just got so hot 🥵. Hoping to do next 8k next weekend in Swansea ❤️. I am popping home. I lived there half my life but have never run along Swansea Bay. But I will 😀
Hello juju, I hope life gets better for you. Am I the only one who’s spotted your deliberate error of 2 x 4k instead of a 4k and a 5k? 😂
I’ve completed W5 but will leave you now to go on a skiing holiday ⛷. I am sure I will be back with you again afterwards.
Have fun everyone. I will be weaning myself off the internet while I’m away (well I will be trying) so if you graduate I congratulate you in advance, because I know you’ll do it. 🎓🏃♀️🏃♂️👏👏👏
Well I have a confession to make, i did week 6 the 4k, 5k and then into the first 9k. I got through 9k fairly close to home but just kept going, I couldn't resist it and I know I should build up to it and pace myself more and that's what I was thinking as I hit 10k in just under 1 hour 9 minutes.
I am prepared to be chastised for ignoring the well thought out and sound plan.
Just got back to a run today after 2 weeks of siatica and then calf muscle pain (probably through not walking properly) took it slow and steady. Hoping to get back on plan but will need to see how it goes. May need to switch from distance to time.
