For some reason, it was hard work and I wasn’t quite feeling it today. Set off with the intention of doing an 8-10k slowish or comfortable run
One thing I did really enjoy today was changing course half way, and discovering unchartered territory. Not talking the hanging gardens of Babylon, just more but different suburbia but nonetheless great to have a change of scenery.
I wasn’t exactly sure initially what distance the new route would have me running today. I get a shout out of pace ( or lack of 🤣) at every km. So after 7k I knew then I was near home and decided then I’d call it a day at 8k and picked up the pace a little bit for the last km.
Not the best run today, but better than no run ( as Laura says, and another poster from today too )
Happy running all 🏃♂️🏃♀️👍

Thanks very much Grannyhugs, you’re spot on there about taking a new turn sometimes.
Happy running 🏃♀️ to you for this week.
Well done buddy! I did 8k today too but felt strangely tired. I was thinking of you the other day and how similar our times are. 8k is still some hit though mate so well done. 5 miles eh and not the best? Can only mean good things ahead. You've come far my friend.
Thanks very much GTFC, yes it’s all km’s ‘under the belt’ and still good to get out.
You seem to do loads of long runs, good for you. I have a lot to learn and experiment with about pacing myself and trying to improve my times. But all in good time and every day is a learning day.
You’re right there Buddy, and today’s was a bit tougher for some reason. Still great to get out and find a new route, I needed to after having been on autopilot for the last several runs on the same route.
If I set out on a solo run without clear intentions and some sort of target, I usually find I'm dissatisfied with the results. "Seeing how it goes" just doesn't work for me. But then I am something of a stats freak
I'm guessing from your split times you actually started a bit quicker than you meant to, if the plan really was "slowish and comfortable" ……. and that was a good recovery for the last k.
Thanks UTS, very interesting what you say and I think on reflection you're spot on there.
On that run I didn't have a clear target, and I did set off quicker than I had intended which I paid for a little later. I did feel a bit dissatisfied at the end yesterday.
I'm a newbie runner, having only started C25K 4 months ago, and I definitely benefitted from the structure and clear targets of the 9 week programme.
Since graduating I've generally enjoyed the freedom of being let loose, but overall I think I would benefit much more from regaining structure and clear targets for each run. I love stats too.
By the way, do you have any advice please for interval runs ?
I have been doing these on one of my weekly runs, but the one I am doing now involves only 6 x 1 min intervals of faster running ( with warm up and warm down jogs before and after). This was OK for the first few weeks, but I think I need to change it now.
