Yesterday evening was beautiful. Bright sun, warm, clear sky and hardly a breath of wind. As I drove home from a deadly shopping trip, I thought, shirt, shorts and out for a brilliant run. As soon as I opened the door I knew that I was doomed!! A pair of dark pleading eyes and practised parabolic swishes of a white tipped tail meant only one thing; walk time!! So that was that. It was a lovely walk though with plenty of strength building hills...but it was a walk! Switch to this morning; cold, raindrops running down the window panes and the whistle of an ice cold wind. The picture tells the story..,,an unspoken but clearly expressed message “your turn now!” So off I went. A 4K in just over 6:00 time as I try to regain a bit of pace and inject it into my 10k plus runs....the longer run is scheduled for Monday, Molly willing! But I have saved the best until last. My walkway cafe, source of fabulous flat whites and triple chocolate brownie is of course closed☹️ But, last year someone in this community was kind enough to send me a recipe!! It looked promising. Real cocoa, and 70% type chocolate. I have never cooked cake stuff before; I am more of a main course man, but this, with a bit of help from Mrs BC, turned out to be absolutely amazing.....so in the middle of all the awful things happening around us, I have found a moment’s post run contentment and now feel ready to tackle the challenges, physical and emotional, with which we are all struggling; well, maybe after joining Molly for forty winks! 😊
It’s a dog’s life!!: Yesterday evening was... - Bridge to 10K
It’s a dog’s life!!
Brownie sounds lovely. Dogs certainly rule the house don’t they 🤣
😃 try getting a cat for comparison.
Dogs have owners... cats have staff!
🐱 Katnap 🐱
Do cats need to be taken for walks though? I have heard of some following owners, but they are more independent in that respect?
Ours doesn't go out much but when living in our previous town some neighbours had 2x cats that they did take for walks because they lived in a flat.
But agreed... that is uncommon! 😃
You need to see Rolf the Warwick University Campus Cat.
I was on that campus a couple of times this year...,didn’t see a cat unfortunately 😊
He wears hi-viz (actually off lead but tracked when on campus) but otherwise he is lead-walked.
(The campus used to be a very regular haunt for me, but a lot has changed)
Will make enquiries as to his welfare.
He tweets.
Clever these cats.
University education for you 😊
Took one of mine to the campus once when he was getting a bit bumptious. Turned into a literal scaredy cat.
Mixed blessing at the moment that Google no longer wants walks. Too risky round here for me direct from home, so confined to base now, tantalising safe woods just up the hill.
I saw one chap ran a marathon in his garden. Ours is far too steep.
Who couldn’t obey a dog like that! She obviously checks the weather forecast before deciding when she wants a walk😂!
Who could resist the pleading eyes of your dog Beachcomber66?
Well done you for getting out today in the cold and rain anyway, and doing 4k. I hope it’s a bit warmer for your next run.
Do repeat the brownie recipe, I have some nice dark chocolate in the cupboard. 😛
Hope this link works! Or maybe it will be a copy and paste job...worked off my e.mail though. Going to add an extra two flavours of chopped chocolate to achieve triple chocolate status!! Happy munching to you and UTS.

Yes the link works. The only problem is, now I’m not running , I can’t even say I deserve a chocolate brownie. My physio exercises aren’t using the same amount of calories as my runs along the prom.
Adorable picture!
A nice speedy 4k there Beachcomber and Molly is gorgeous! 😊
Thanks Lexi6...some snow expected tomorrow and the central heating has chosen now to play up!! Maybe runs are the best option!!
Whaaat snow!! Weather has turned nasty here and too awful for running outside so did an indoor 5k yesterday not the same, ☹️but will have to do. I guess getting someone to look at your central heating is out of the question in these times, so keeping warm another of the benefits of running. 👍
It’s a dog’s life eh? Ours is currently snoring gently!
Molly crashes out any time after 8.30 pm....hope she doesn’t notice the clocks have been altered in the morning. Wouldn’t put it past her 😊 breakfast an hour early.
Ohhhh look at Molly! 💕 No way could you deny her her walk could you? I know all about those eyes ...... 🐾🐾
So it’s BC the baker now is it? I’m impressed! I’m glad you found a solution to your post run treat - how did it stack up to the cafe? And what about the flat white - can you replicate those at home too? 😅
Happy safe running BC. 🐾🏃😀
Thanks CC; necessity the mother of invention and all that. It measured up pretty well; Mrs BC, my sous chef, was impressed so that is good enough for me. I will have to do a bit of internet research to come up with a replacement flat white, but hey it's another project. All of this is diversion of course. Mrs BC found the first week hard.....missing her various activities, including the inevitable ladies that lunch! Last night she settled down to start writing something she has had in her mind for years. I guess many of us will need to change gear to cope...except for Molly. Only problem there is the closing of the groomers....guess I am going to have to maintain a long coated OES for a while. Teaches patience 😊😊
She’s gorgeous & yes irresistible I am sure as are your brownies!! 🌈
