Did my second 10K today, Jeffing it with my trusted ratio of 4:30 / 0:30. But I have to admit, it was irresponsible. Until 2 weeks ago I had not run for a month. And in the past 2 weeks I ran 5 times. 1x3K, 3x5K and 1x7K and instead of further building it up, I bit into 10K now. A bit irresponsible, but I wanted to do my second 10K during my holiday and this was it is done and over with and I can relax for the last week without pressure.
Started out nice and slow, speeding up a little during the run. Lots of wind, but nothing that could not be coped with. Had a slight stitch in the abdomen, which persisted a LONG time, but I could run through it.
Ran towards the harbor, onto the dune path and instead of leaving the path half way, I followed it until the next town. Of the dune path and onto the bicycle path back. Onto the roads amongst the fields and there I hit the 10K mark. Ran a bit further to finish at 90 minutes.
When I stopped the run a friendly little dog ran up to me to jump against my leg and lick my hands. Took a quick selfie with a cow for my Garmin stats and went home to drink a cold chocolate milk, which I always do after a run.
My second 10K... it has not fully reached my brain I think...
Well done ๐ great time again. It must be the day of animal photos. Took one of horses on my walk 8.69 this morning but not a selfie. Youโve had a lot runs this last 2 weeks so you would have the stamina to do it. Great ๐๐
Well done on your 2nd 10k Evy !I wouldn't call it irresponsible.
Maybe a run in between the 7 and the 10 would have been good but you have built it up over the last 2 weeks to a good distance , and jeffing it was perhaps a good idea .
Thanks and I actually planned to do 8,5K today to reach the 10K next weekend. But while running I thought, 10K is only 3K more than 7, sooo... Plus it gives me some rest not to have all the pressure on next weekend. So 10K happened ๐
I had a long walk (minimum 10K) this afternoon to visit the flower corso of this year. Feel wrecked now. 10K running + 10K slow walking = one sore Evy...
Well done, youโre at the point where you can tackle a variety of distances through all the hard work you put in so far, great feeling. Happy running ๐ค
It sounds like you were actually quite sensible! I have been doing 5Ks and a few 4Ks and a 7K since my last 13.5K over a month ago and went straight to my first 15K yesterday. I will have to keep those 10K plus runs up more regularly. No excuse now the weather is treating us more kindly as regards heat.
Hmm... that is a good way to look at it! I keep the idea of +10% in my head. But I guess it is not so bad as I thought.
Here they promise another hot week in 2 weeks. Of course just when my holiday is over. Hot weather is not good for running, but it is nice to sit outside during a holiday. Had better shifted my holiday 1 week later, haha.
Well done I did my first 10k on Friday not sure when to do another May have a slow week this week then go for it again next! I suppose now we know we can do it the hard part is done ๐๐โโ๏ธ
Hurrah Evy! Congratulations, well done on your 10k - that looks like a really nice route, especially with a dog and a cow to cheer you on. Love the photo, you look really relaxed ๐.
Thanks and it is a nice route. The dune path is a little bit heavier, going up and down (but not yet like hills). Not doable when it is warm though, cus then the dune path feels like an oven!
Well done on your second 10k. Enjoy your relax, you've earned it! Irresponsible? I would say not! You've built up with several shorter runs. Lovely pic too - you look pleased - as well you should!
Thereโs that feeling isnโt there? after the first one that it was a fluke? the second makes us realise that we can run 10k if we decide to, both mine happened because i was enjoying running and just carried on, no plan involved at all
My first was a bit by accident. I planned on doing 8K and when I was at 7K I thought, 10K is just 3K more why not go for it?
This second one was a bit a mix. I wanted to do 10K, but my reasonable part told me to stop at 8,5K as I was kinda building it up. But the unreasonable part of my brain really wanted that 10K to be done with. Unreasonable parts can be stubborn, haha.
