Still here!

Day 5 of 14 of self-isolation here... my son is symptom-less, his father has come through the other side of COVID19 and is itching to get back to work to support his stressed out surgery staff. I have been feeling tired, and hot, with burning patches of skin and burning, irritated eyes. Very odd. Without testing who knows what’s what. My left knee also swelled up and I couldn’t walk normally for three days, let alone run. A bit worrying and disappointing given I have a lot more time on my hands at the moment... Not sure what caused it but lots of ice and rest seem to have helped.

So today I thought I’d do a gentle 3k and do my tiny bit for the virtual running cup thingy. I had heavy strapping on my knee. It wasn’t entirely pain free but did ease as I went on. My body is tired though, and the wind didn’t help. It really was like pushing against a wall at times. I struggled on, determined to log the 3k, speeding up a bit as the Garmin told me the battery was low... and told me again... and then died at 2.81k. Bugger it! I jogged home, plugged the Garmin in, waited 4 minutes then did a whizzy couple of minutes running to make sure I bagged the 3k. It did occur to me it was all pretty bonkers.

I uploaded the picture above with additional screenshots showing what time the two runs took place and they have kindly added the 3.2k to the UK tally.

Then went back to bed. 😴

PS. Did you hear about the chap who ran a marathon on his treadmill?!

Wow, what a story. Bless you all. Real grit and courage to do what you did. The distance is secondary. What's important is that this type of run will really help you going forward. Hopefully you'll get stronger and in time be able to run more freely. Well done though. Hope you all keep well.

Glad you’re (sort of) ok. I was thinking about you this morning. I don’t think I’m going to manage the long run this week so don’t feel you need to catch up!! Concentrate on getting yourself well, hope your son is ok too.

Hope you feel much better quickly and are able to get back out there running, just build it back up slowly, don’t go too mad!

Thanks lmc, yes, I need that knee!

Very wise, I believe the replacements aren't as good as the originals, and you'd beep Everytime you went through customs 🤔

Sorry to hear you’re under the weather ktsok but hope you’re feeling better soon. I had a chuckle at you nipping round to finish .2km to make sure of that 3k! The things we do to get to our target! Stay well!

Look after yourself and your littl'un. Now's not the time for heroics or pushing limits, make sure you listen to your body.

Yes, this IS me trying to lecture you on the importance of being sensible. The irony isn't lost. I'll end where I started:

Look after yourself and your littl'un.

Grit is your middle name. Glad you achieved your goal. 👏🏼 But take care. Hot & tired doesn’t sound good, let alone bad knee. 🤔 Fluids, blanket & sofa sound a good way to go. Your young man can bring you things and read to you for a couple of days! 😇

Yes, he has been charged with making me a cup of tea for Mother’s Day morning. It will be the second he has made. He did well with the first bar the fact he ripped the teabag open. Better than my

first attempt as a child when I forgot to boil the water!

😄 We all remember the moments! Good for your lad - destined to be a useful chef some day (or bar tender, I guess.) 👏🏼

Sorry you are not well ktsok, it's hard enough at the moment adjusting, factor in the knee, and you still got to 3 km,👍

Have a rest day today, and pamper yourself 😊

You just take care ktsok; you need all of your energy for your health and taking care of your tea maker at the moment. We are part of a team......so those of us who are not suffering at the moment will do our best whilst others recover; that is the essence of team work. Tea making lessons for junior seem to be a priority 🙂

Well done ktsok 😊

It's amazing what we can do when we put our minds to it!

Hope you and your family are coping well!

I did see the marathon on the balcony! Mind over matter at its best! 🤯

Shouldn’t you be staying at home if you don’t feel well and have a temperature Kt? Your son could have passed the virus to you without having the symptoms himself.

ktsok in reply toDexy5

Thanks Dexy. I felt hot but no temperature. We are lucky enough to live on private land so can walk and run around fields not having contact with anyone, or touching gates, etc. Seem to be on the mend now 🙂
