A steady 3K, to make sure everything is still working after various niggles and aches. It felt so good to be back out there and running! I made sure I did my dynamic exercises first and a good warm up walk. I held the stretches for a good time when I got home.
I’ve paid attention to comments about being overdressed for the milder weather, so donned shorts and long sleeved top. Trademark sun visor to finish the look!
The first thing I noticed was the birdsong. Spring is almost here! I had made the right decision about what I was wearing. I really prefer wearing shorts! I set off at a steady pace and noticed with relief that there were no aches or pains. I had already decided to run for about 20 minutes or 3K and that I would resist any temptation to carry on.
I knew I would increase pace with each km because that’s what my body likes to do, but I also tried to keep it steady. I was surprised at the pace of the 3rd km. it was a good time to stop. I went backwards and forwards a bit at the end, as there was traffic and didn’t want to stop and wait to cross the road!
Definitely happy to be running again and pleased I stuck to my plan 😊

Brilliant returning run Jools2020 good to see everything still works 👍, and shorts 👏👏👏👏👏 whoop whoop 👍👍
Winter is over indeed! 🌞😎 no matter what the weather brings now, March brings the spring. There are snowdrops about and the narcissi are flowering 🌼 you are brave with your shorts Jools! Well done for taking the difficult decision to rein in the distance for safety's sake. Great time for the last K btw 😁👍
That's a fantastic comeback run! Glad to see everything is still in working order - including your penchant for negative splits! 😁I really noticed the birds singing on my lunchtime walk yesterday, and the woodpeckers have been drumming for a few days now. Spring is definitely here!
I even treated myself to a new pair of running shorts which arrived yesterday - I'm itching to try them out!
Good news that you got out, and with no pain, bet you were ready for that, and shorts all the way now, my tights put away till autumn. Have a look at my time splits from yesterday! 🐌
I was definitely ready for that!! I think I’ll keep my options open with the running tights. We might get a cold spell.
Our pace is usually similar, but that was your first run back and you ran further than I did. Perfect positive splits, just the opposite of mine 😁
Well done Jools. That’s a very successful come back run 😊🏃🏼♀️. Let’s hope all those niggles are behind you and you can run into spring dreaming of those long runs to come.
Nice one! It's good when a plan comes together, isn't it! It won't be long before we all start talking about how it's too hot to run!
Impressive pace for such a long break as well! 🏃♂️
I decided to have time off since running an 8k on Saturday until this morning as I was aching before I ran on Saturday and still went anyway (stupid I know!)
Back with a 4k today to start week 6 of Ju-Ju's Magic Plan - To ensure I was good for today, I did W1R1 of the Couch to 5k with my daughter yesterday which I enjoyed (she hated it! 😆)
My pace was better than my last few runs as well so the rest was definitely worth it!
It’s the first time I’ve had a real break from running since I started last May. Over Christmas I did run just once a week for a couple of weeks, but that’s not a complete break. You ran last Saturday, so you’ve only really missed one run. Sounds like a good idea, though, as you were aching before that 8K run!
After a break of almost 3 weeks I was a bit concerned that I would find it tough, but it was fine. I was just being careful in keeping to 3K. Hopefully I can resume my previous 3 times a week runs with my long runs on Saturdays. I think this Saturday I’ll perhaps do an 8K. I run slowly anyway, but I can always stop if I think it’s too much. 😊
Yaay well done Julia great first run back 👏👏 and how great to be back out there running in your shorts and Trademark sun visor!! So glad you enjoyed your run and wonderful no aches or pains. Love your negative splits 😘🐻👏 x
HI there good to see you back, I've missed reading your posts.Good to see those nice tidy negative splits that you're so famous for. All the best for a good, steady, injury free comeback!
I’m fine now thanks. I’ve been tired going back to work this week but it’s always tiring going back into school after any break as it’s so full on. I ran 3k yesterday and I was fine. I’m waiting until we can travel so I can get back to trail running, which I love. I’m very fortunate to have weathered it well 😊.
