Merry Christmas fellow runners, I am sorry to say I have been a bit glum ... I picked up a strain in December and probably pushed too much so have put myself on the IC.
Not a great way to end the year especially as when I have time off I have more time to run but needs must. Determined to get back out as early in the new year as possible but need to wait for the strain to resolve.
On the up side I set myself a goal of running 1000km this year and, this is probably where I did myself no favours, I achieved that with my final run.
Whilst I sit on the sidelines I have plenty of time to think about where my running will take me next year. Wondering about all sorts of things such as pace and places .. having come off a phase of needing to stop/start due to lack of recent fitness I think the first priority will be to get my stamina back up so I can run continually again.
This time last year I was looking at a gift of entry into my first half marathon, something which I doubted I could do many times. As I sit looking into the new year wondering when my next run will be I know it will be a struggle but I also know the exhilaration I will feel during and after. At the ends of January I will think about another HM - it was tough getting there but the journey alone was worth it.
Happing running to you all, stay injury free and enjoy the non icy weather 😃

Aww Richard, sad that you’ll see 2019 out from the IC, but of course you’re being sensible and patient. At least you’re avoiding this rather miserable weather. Anyway, here’s to a successful and running filled 2020! 😀👍🎉
Sorry to hear you're ending the year on the IC but what a year 1000km wow. As a newby to running I was delighted to hit 100miles. Hope you're soon back out preparing for that half marathon
Sorry to hear that you are on the IC Richard, but you have so much to be proud of in your running year. I hope you will soon be back on the road again.
Wow Richard 1000km is great. I set the same target on Strava but am going to come in under at about 700km (about the same as last year).
Sorry to hear about your injury - always annoying when they coincide with running opportunities 🙄 but hopefully you'll start the new year feeling reinvigorated.
I'm hoping for some cold clear crisp mornings for winter running - this wet mild nonsense is getting me down and I'm going to blame it for my recent lack of form (though this may of course be due to work exhaustion and Christmas over indulgence 😉).
