I left my daughter Dabby-dot and the rest of my family snoozing in bed in our holiday cottage this morning and headed off for the run I had promised myself yesterday. Thank you to all those who encouraged me to go for it and not worry about running on consecutive days this once.
It was wonderful. I reached the copse of trees on the horizon of the open moorland that I had seen in the distance at my turning point yesterday. The three panoramic photos are of this section of my run. The views were stunning and well worth the effort. The outward stretch was largely uphill through pasture and woodland with a few more gradual inclines in some places. My favourite section of the run was the open moorland at the top, the views were stunning and the breeze very welcome. Mindful that I have largely been doing intervals with Dabby for the past few weeks on her C25K, I eased into a walk on some of the very steep outward stretches, but I ran all the way back, covering 4.2k not counting warm up or cool down walks.
We’re heading home tomorrow, so my next run will be back on my home turf, although I’m now inspired to try some runs up on The South Downs.
Happy running everyone 😊🏃♀️🌳
