Boxing Day Run!

So today I was one of 1000 odd runners taking part in Saltwood's Boxing Day Run. It was a special one as it was it's 45th anniversary this year........this year was also the first time I was a runner rather than a spectator.....I must admit, out of the 5km, I probably only run about 2. The rest was wading through mud, trying not to fall on my butt ( or face ). But I feel soooooo good. Can't wait for next year already πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

That's a lot of runners , I hope you enjoyed it. How great to be taking part and being cheered on by others for a change. Congratulations πŸ‘πŸ‘

Glad that you enjoyed your run today in the mud and taking part not just spectating, it's high time I also should take part in a event race, yes I have now ran at 14 Parkruns, spectated at many 5K and 10K events but never ran in any, perhaps I may take part next year. 😊 πŸƒπŸΎ

Oh do it...it's lots of fun. The atmosphere always gets you through even if you're struggling a bit......I didn't race. The first person finished in about 15 minutes. At that point I was still queuing to cross the first bridge over a stream not even a whole mile in. I finished in 50 minutes, which is about 10 minutes slower than my usual 5km, but that's not what today was about. It was about taking part and feeling great πŸ˜€

Well done, that bridge must have held you back a good bit as your usual time is a lot faster. 😊 πŸƒπŸΎ 15 minutes for the winner, at least he wasn't held up at that bridge.

Most of the run was through muddy fields. We also queued at a couple of cow gates. The serious runners obviously started at the front to avoid all that. It was brilliant fun though .

What a great turnout especially in those conditions. Great way to work off Christmas day.

It's very popular around our parts. It's either that or the Boxing Day dip in Folkestone Harbour. I much rather the mud than a freezing sea 😁
