All those good intentions to get out for a run this morning were stymied by the strong winds rattling the house when I woke up. Then came the downpour, good to be inside. Then...I realised I'd run out of milk so I'd have to walk to the shop across the road or else do without the cuppa I craved.
Once I got outside it wasn't so bad so I decided to walk to the Tesco a few minutes further up the road and get a couple of other bits too. It really was OK out there.
I looked at my feet. Chelsea boots with a thick, hard sole. Why didn't I wear my trainers? And trackies instead of jeans? Then I could have run there? Too late to turn back so I did my shopping and turned for home.
Now, besides my unsuitable clothes and shoes, I was carrying 4 pints of milk. Then inspiration hit - why not do a symbolic run? Maybe Coach Bennett's One Minute Run? Shuffling through the NRC app was no fun, I think the raindrops interfered with the touch screen. Anyway, I couldn't find the One Minute Run so I got ambitious and did the Two Minute Run instead. Wow, I doubled my initial goal on my first run of the year. Carry on like this and it'll be Ultramarathons by December!!
I have to say it was hard work but I managed it π Shoes and all the gear really do make a difference lol.
The runners high was quite disproportionate to the distance run, and NRC even gave me a badge for running on New Years Day! I'm still smiling
Happy New Year and Happy New Runs to all of you
