Boxing Day Bonus

15 Replies

My main goal today was catching up with my Bingo card;

Festive photo posted (above... I turned a corner and saw this snowman holding out his arms to embrace, so embrace deprived for a moment I thought he’d step forward and give me a big hug, really made me smile) ....to continue...Ran on Boxing Day, 25+ miles in Dec, Ran to festive music ( Listened to Bob Harris Christmas Country Show again! & Mark Radcliffe’s Christmas folk shows all the way through) Sang along to ‘Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas’, such great lyrics for us at the moment...jingle bell tied to my shoe & wore my Santa ear rings. Still not complete but nearly there. ✅ Oh yes and I have now reached Manchester on Lejog5 😁

I didn’t have a set plan but I wanted to do a longer run today if my niggly knee of the run before last would let me. First time I’ve had to stop running and walk due to painful knee. Walking for a bit and then running very slowly did ease it off 🤞. So today I set off for a very easy pace, planning to stick at this for as long as I felt comfortable. I was aware of nursing my knee, being careful to keep my hips knees ankles aligned and taking care on uneven ground, steep slopes and corners and hoorah only a very small hint of creeping old age 😃 and so I was able to keep on going and have some records to report:

1. Furthest distance 7.2 miles, a 1/5 mile further than my last longest run. Every little counts 😊

2. Most miles in a week 13.8miles, very pleased with this as the week before was zero as off sick.

The 2020 relay challenge really helped me keep going today, I wanted to put something good in the bag for the team and it’s also helped me get out everyday of the challenge so far to walk or run, thanks linda9389

As I ran today I felt so much stronger than this time last year, and felt very happy to have put so many miles in my legs. I haven’t got a full count as only started recording on Strava at the end of February and there have been a few technical failures along the way but a pretty good estimate is 500k this year. Wow, did I really do that? If I can do that I wonder what I can achieve next year? what can we all achieve next year?

Happy Running everyone, looking forward to getting out into the realm of real running with you sometime next year. 🤗🏃‍♀️🤸‍♀️🤗

So many bingo ticks there 😀🎅☃️🎄Glad you're knee behaved itself and allowed you to get the run done 👍

I've had a very lazy day, although as I'm writing that I realise I have been for 3 dog walks 😂

Your post made me look at my yearly total, none of 300k but its interesting to see that my monthly distance has shot up on the last few months.

I had lots of Bingo catch up on dijep, not such a lazy day for you then 🤣 , good that your monthly distance is creeping up, although some weeks there have been setbacks overall slowly slowly the trend is up 😃🤗

You've done well - with this run and all the others you've managed throughout the year. The relay sounds like a good thing to get you out when you're struggling for motivation. Nice. Sounds like you've had a great Christmas!

Thanks 59er, yes in some ways it’s been a good year for me and the running has definitely been a big part of this. I’m not sure if my rather worn knees will see me reach the HM but I’m going to give it a try. A bit achy this morning and left knee a little sore but off for a walk in the sunshine now Storm Bella has finished throwing her toys out of the pram! How are you doing? I’ve missed your posts since you had your bike accident, are you getting out to run again yet? Whatever you’ve been able to do I hope you’ve had a lovely Christmas as strange as this year has been 🤗

I too have achy knees at times! Par for the course nowadays I think 🤭 . I've had my family family around me for the first time in a while so my Christmas has been perfect. Yes, I've been out a few times since the accident - hoping to start building it up a bit more now although nowhere near a half marathon - good for you! It seems the only sensible thing to do when you're in lockdown!
