I have been wondering what to do next after the 10k plan and came across the Brighton Half Marathon next Feb ( hopefully). I have gone mad and entered!! Now I need to find a plan to follow so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am only up to 11k so far.
I have done some very long distance cycling sportives in the past but this will be my first ever running event and I am already excited!!

Gradually week by week increase your runs, 1K a week more on longer runs with a few short runs as well, say a long run on a Saturday, shorter runs on a Monday and Wednesday, on non running days you could do other exercises including a bike ride, good luck for HM next February.
Thanks!! I have now got a plan- keep to around 10k for now, then in October with 4months to go start increasing the distance by 1k every other week to lessen chance of injury. Also going to do 1 x fast and 1x steady shortish run as I did on the 10k plan, but add in a strength session on one day and a stretch session the day after long run. I suppose it would be good to cut back a bit on chocolate and wine too so I have a few less lbs to lug round with me😂😂
Thanks!! I just booked a place on Airbnb to stay in and also roped my daughter in to run it too😀. Even if it does not go ahead due to Covid 19 we can still have a lovely weekend away in Brighton!
I’m hoping to do an HM early next year too. Haven’t heard anything, I registered interest, but will sing up as soon as I do. A London half but maybe a Brighton half would be good family outing too.
Ooooh let me know if you come across a London one!! I have done 3 Prudentual Ride London rides ( all closed roads on a bike) and it is just amazing with all the screaming crowds and cycling down the mall at the end!! The Brighton half looks pretty cool!! We have booked an Airbnb and will go and do it anyway, even if it gets called off. If so I will get myself a virtual HM medal😀
Thank you LulaHula- I have made my own plan up and stuck it on the fridge. 😀 Signed up to Les mills on demand for their brilliant online classes as finally accepted I need to do some stretch and strength work!! Did first stretching one on Monday and quite enjoyed it😂
Hi HappyNoodle, that’s brill👍 I just replied to you on the HM forum- I have done my hip in so no running for a while. Really great you have signed up 🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️
