Good news from the IC

A very encouraging visit to the osteopath today! Because of worsening leg pains and stiffness I last ran 10 days ago.

After a lot of questioning and examination, he diagnosed a sacroiliac problem in the left hip, leading to all those muscular pains.

After 30 minutes of stretching manipulation, my posture definitely improved, my legs felt freed up and I left like a (63 year old) spring lamb.

However he has warned me to take things easy for the 2 weeks until my next appointment. So nothing more than gentle dog walking and swimming for me.

All such a relief!! 😁☀️

What suggestions from the VRBs as to how to get back into running given that I will have been out of saddle for over 3 weeks. Some runs out of C25K?

So glad that you are slowly recovering from your recent injuries, depending how long you will be off running by the time you start again would depend which week to restart C25K, if you have been off running for less than two months I would restart at week 3, more than that restart at week 1.

Thanks Al. I’ll catch you up one day! Although someone’s beaten us to the 2hr marathon 😁

10K is long enough for me to run HeavyFoot, I have now ran 3/10Ks umpteen 5K's, this Saturday will be my 8th parkrun, so I hope you will get back to running once you get the all clear from your professional advisors.

Given the distances you have been running, I’d have thought a gentle 3k followed by a 70% 5k would be all the rebuilding you need. The couch is history .....👍

Though obviously, keep listening to your body 🤪

Thank you UTS. I think the main thing will be to listen to my body. There are good sacroiliac exercises on YouTube.

Great news! a couple more weeks and you will hopefully be back out there :-) what a relief that must be!

I agree with UTS - you should be able to hit a gentle 5k a couple of runs and start to build back up from there x

Good to hear you’re on the mend, hope you’re back in action soon.

Good stuff, glad it's nothing that a couple of weeks off won't cure

I would just head out once you're cleared and see how it goes for few easy runs with no time or distance pressure, then move up to 5K then onwards if all goes well

First steps were a swim this morning (deadly dull but I tried different styles and breathing techniques) then a fabulous dog walk on Polzeath beach, North Cornwall.

Will try a little foam rolling in front of TV. Thank you for your wishes.
