Sssh π€« π€ - this is the first time I have said that out loud in a vain attempt to pretend it isn't real π’.
Now I think I have to admit that I have aggravated an old injury weak spot from a few years ago - torn ligaments in my ankle and foot from a ladder fall that left me in plaster.
A week after the niggle in my foot turned into an ache, I am no nearer putting on my trainers, so I am running vicariously through the rest of you. Please keep the wonderful posts coming, they are cheering me up and making me smile - dijep's Christmas Tree made me laugh out loud. π
Having been on the IC a couple of times before, I know better than to run before I can walk, and I shall not be heading out to run before I can walk the dog in comfort...... πΆπΎ
Oh noooooo. Your relationship with the IC is far too close I have been useless at going out as the cold and ice just put me off! Hope you feel better soon .
Thank you Timotea. I think my relationship with the IC could be cause for concern..... although this has been a long stretch off it. I'm frustrated though. Mr D-d has just gone off to run the length of Barra's runway (Outer Hebrides), which is just 800 metres! I know he'll tag a bit more on though before he heads home.
I am about 100 miles behind you so need to get my legs into gear.... brrrrr. It was so easy in the summer. Rest up and do lots of Pilates to keep muscles strong and stretched.

Thank you, I will. There's nothing like not be able to run for making you want to run.... I shall have to keep myself reined in when I do start back. Gently does it.
Oh I'm sorry to hear that! I wondered if you were ok. You know you will recover, but that doesn't help much at the moment I know.I know you will be sensible and not take on more than is good for you. At least it's now very dark and wintry, so running opportunities are a bit more limited. Let's hope that rest (and a physio?) will see off this injury soon. It happens to most of us at some time or another it seems.
So sorry to hear youβre injured Delly-dot, itβs a very mixed blessing indeed when we can feel glad for others getting out there enjoying their runs but canβt join in ourselves π especially with Mr Dd βborrowingβ your stuff, enough to bring out anyoneβs green eyed monster, take good care, I know you will π hope youβre able to get back to your walks very soon π€..maybe Iβll catch you up a bit this week in lejog land, youβve been chalking up those counties ππ€π€
β’ in reply to
Oh, yes! Please stop and have a LEJOG chat! π€
β’ in reply to
Weβll have a nice cuppa and chat ...if I can catch you, ....Iβve just received my 300 mile postcard, Iβd say weβll have a couple of months in reserve to cover IC stops and other unforeseen mishaps π€
So sorry youβre βrestingβ - sounds like youβll be sensible though and be back ASAP but not sooner. Thanks for the heads up on the Christmas tree run. Amazing! Now thereβs a challenge! Keep safe and warm - weβll hear your exploits again soon I hope
Oh Delly-dot, sorry to hear you have to sit on the IC for a while, I hope its not for too long.Rest and have patience, you will recover and be needing your running equipment back.
Oh Wenderwoo, we do miss you here on the forums. Thank you for hanging around to keep us all company. Hopefully it won't be too long, but I know not to rush it. π€
I do hope your IC is a nice comfy one so you can put your feet up and rest that foot properly. And if your weather is anything like mineβ it's the best place to be πYou'll be back and at least you'll have lots of present ideas for Mr DD and perhaps something for yourself? After all you need something to help cheer you up π
Ah, my IC is comfy and there's a lovely smell coming from the slow cooker that says dinner is ready..... Nice glass of red wine to go with it, I think. Now I wouldn't be doing that if I was running tomorrow..... ππ·
Good luck dell. Google some ankle strengthening exercises and you will soon be back. One exercise is to stand on one leg for 30 seconds and build up to 1 min with your eyes closed.
Oh......, now don't say that nowster!! No, seriously, it'll take as long as it takes - the IC sofa is comfy this evening π·, though I know it'll feel different tomorrow when Mr D-d puts on his running gear again π and I can't.... patience π is a virtue.
Oh, Delly-Dot, I feel for you, having been on the IC many times since starting my very short running career in May this year. I always start back too soon. So please do take it easy and give it more time than you think it should take. Good luck! Thinking of you x
I'm so sorry to hear you are on the IC D-d, I really hope it is a short rest and that you are able to get back out there soon, but not before you are properly healed of course. Do take care of yourself and take the time to recuperate before the busy Christmas season really hits. π
Thank you FRB. I am so disappointed to be missing out on your brilliant festive bingo, but Iβm enjoying all the posts. What a fantastic idea that is - it has really captured everyoneβs imagination. Please do it next year so I can join in! π
I'm so sorry D-d, perhaps if you are able to get out walking before the end of the month you can tick a couple off? I would particularly recommend the festive treat one! π«β π₯§
But yes, I think it may have to make a comeback next December too, for those who can't take part this year and of course, for all the runners that have yet to start running.
Sorry to hear this DD. I hope you're back at it soon. Great to have Xmas ideas though - on the bright side π€£π€£π€£. I hope thats a fluorescent pink flipbelt? Need to make sure he doesn't try to hang on to it.... π
Teehee! π I noticed the flip-belt didn't get an outing today - a tad too tight I think π. He does keep snaffling my earbuds though..... hmmmπ , good job Santa has them sorted. How's everything with you?
Iβm so sorry D-d, Iβve only just seen this! What rotten luck to find yourself on the IC - itβs not the same I know but I hope our posts help you while youβre stuck on the couch! And in the meantime, when Mr D-d goes out trotting, you get some quality online retail therapy time donβt you! Hope you heal soon, let us know how youβre doing wonβt you!
This made me smile OGR, thank you π, especially mention of Mr D-d βtrottingβ, which conjures up a funny mental picture of his βRunning the Runwaysβ charity runs this month. Heβs doing really well and Iβm proud of him. Just need to help him keep it up in the New Year. Hopefully Iβll be back to it by then and we can go out together ππ€πΌ.
