Two weeks ago I ran my first full 10k in a time of 73.03, this morning I ran my second 10k in a time of 70.20, nice cool morning so I am happy about that, nice run for me
Almorr /2nd10K: Two weeks ago I ran my first... - Bridge to 10K
Almorr /2nd10K
Congratulations AlMorr on your second and faster 10k😊👏👏
Thanks Buddy, got your report about your run this morning being spoiled by a litter picker, sorry about that.
Maybe he got up on the wrong side of the bed this morning. If I see him again I will tell him to try c25k maybe cheer him up a bit 😂
Good chunk of time off last time Al. Well done! 👍👏👊🏃♂️😀
Well done Al, on your second 10k run. That's a brilliant time as well! 😊
Happy running 😊xx
Thank you Bluebirdrunner, that's a nice compliment.
I was reading another story here on the Internet not really related to running but it could apply to some here on Healthunlocked
It's a quote from Confucius the Chinese philosopher who lived around 470BC
"Our greatest glory is in not falling, but in rising every time we fall "
Of course we don't want to fall, however if a runner does fall, rise and keep on running. 😊 🏃
Well done Al. I do keep up with your progress and am starting to get a bit jealous!! Clearly I need a bit of good Scottish cuisine!! 😁
Fab stuff! Well done Al, that's a great improvement 🏃🙂
Coming along very nicely Al. Once you’ve got your cadence up to the fastest your legs will go round, you can try to extend your stride length for yet more speed 👍
Yes, thanks for that wonderful advice UTS, you are magnificent in the times that you have ran 5 or 10K runs or longer distances 🏃👍
You’re too kind. Remember I have been running up to 5k regularly for the best part of 60 years, which helps a bit - well quite a lot really 😀
It’s you guys and gals who got off the couch in your 50s, 60s and 70s and stuck with the programme who are truly magnificent 👍
Thank you UpTheStanley, I would say that I have never been a couch potato, my favourite sports past time has been cycling, I still cycle but not as much as just up to a few years ago, I have been a 🚴 cyclist since I was 7, I did run way back in Primary School, my last run was when I was 11 in 1957, no more running until Spring of 2018. I am of normal weight, go a lot of walks during the winter months, I think its a bit dangerous cycling in the winter, anyway, the running has surprised me just as it my daughter who has encouraged me, she helped me to print out the barcodes for the Saturday morning parkruns which I have now ran 5😊 🏃 regards to you and Dexy 👍🏃
That’s fantastic. Well done on the time too. I hope to reach the giddy heights of 10k one day 🙏
I do hope so. I’m fitting in some shorter runs and doing just 1 5k a week. Think I went a bit mad at the start.
You are awesome aren’t you? we are 10 years younger and can’t quite get to 5k but we are stretching our times a little
Well done Al, you are getting speedy! 🏃♂️⚡️
You really are going for it 👏🏻👏🏻 Three minutes faster in just 2 weeks is amazing and planning another in just 2 weeks time, well wow! At this rate you’ll be knocking on an hour’s door before too long!
I am being "helped" by that metromone beats app I recently installed on my Smartphone, two weeks ago I set it at 162 steps a minute, today it was at 165, if I am brave enough, in two weeks time I'll set it at 168 steps/beats/cadence a minute and hopefully get a sub 70 minutes 10k.🏃👍😊
Well done. You are fantastic and I love reading your posts. So inspiring xx
Thank you very much Lynsh for your compliments to me, I hope you are enjoying your running. 😊 🏃
I did 10k number 8 tonight in just a few seconds under 74 minutes. Coming back from a heavy cold, I'm dead chuffed, but I'm seriously impressed with your time so far. Well done, that is inspiring.
Fantastic, you must have really good strength now to run another 10 even faster than the first. Bravo!
I do other exercises on non-running days, in fact when I think of it I only run on two days a week, Saturday, sometimes parkrun and a mid-week run on a Wednesday, I cycle on a Sunday, do planks most mornings before breakfast.
Last May I completed UnFitNoMore's 100 pushups a day for a month challenge.
Since then I do 100 pushups on a Tuesday and Friday, I have a yoga mat which my daughter gave me, that's when I do the planks, two years ago when doing my normal shopping I could not resist there and then buying a pair of 5KG kettlebells, that was a deadweight coming home with the normal weekly messages and those kettlebells, I thought my shopping bag was going to burst, never mind the dead weight, so I do other exercises as well as my runs.
That’s wonderful! Well done
Thanks CP2, I enjoyed that run yesterday.
that's the best! A nice long run. Did you listen to music or anything?
No music, just the tick, tick, tick of my metromone beats/steps/cadence at 165 steps a minute and Mapmyrun telling me, pace, speed and distance in kilometers, I know that to some people all those ticks going on for 70 minutes would be a bit tedious but I had the volume of that app low, the volume of Mapmyrun can be controlled separately, so that was a bit louder. 😊 🏃
oh that's interesting. I've not tried the cadence metronome, I don't know if it would irritate me or if I would start ignoring it after a bit. What do you use for yours?
Huge well done...and I am sorry I missed this x
Thanks Floss, there are now so many people on this forum it's a good thing but sometimes difficult to keep up with everything, I enjoyed what was my second 10K on Wednesday, just over 70 minutes, maybe in two weeks I will run another 10K in slightly under 70 minutes. 😊 🏃 👍
Congrats Al, my best time is 85 mins so I am in awe of your times. Well done !
