Hello runners, just thought I would say hello to the few people on here that remember me. Running has been a little intermittent of late, what with holidays and surgery... I had to have umbilical hernia surgery, for a hernia I have had for a few years but finally decided to get something done about it.
Now that I am over that I have been stepping up my running over the past few weeks and increasing distance again, I had a great run this morning (9K) with some lovely weather, as a few people have said already I am glad that Autumn is upon us and the temps are becoming more conducive to running.
My aim is still to complete some 10K races, not made it yet, mainly due to injury, but hopefully I am now over the calf problems I used to suffer, getting a good set of runners legs is a slow process!
I also noticed after the run this morning that on both feet in the instep that it felt as if there were the beginnings of a blister, my trainers have now done approx. 470KM, and I wonder if it is time to refresh them, they still feel extremely comfortable though, its just very difficult to tell... On each sole I am just starting to wear the foam underneath the tread on the same place on each shoe, interested to hear what you think...?
Cheers

I disagree; it depends on your weight, gait, the shoe type, tread and usual terrain, just to name a few factors. I only got 350 miles out of my Brooks road shoes before their support was worn to a level it affected my comfort.
Hmmm, mine are Brooks Adrenaline GTS 18s, so wonder if they are worn out as well... As I said previously the white PVA foam under the tread is starting to wear.
If you bought them from a local run shop you respect just pop in with them and without saying you think they're worn just ask how much life you think is left. A good run shop will be able to tell you how many miles you've done and what life is left.
Alternatively if you don't have a regular/ good run shop, take your shoes in, find/ask for the latest incarnation of your model, put one of each pair on and compare what you're feeling. I was _amazed_ at the difference between them and I replaced like for like.
Latest version is already at 370 miles and I'll be upgrading again soon but as my work shoes are at 400ish/6 months and need replacing and my trail shoes are nearly at 400 miles (although those being tougher I should get a little more from) it's not a cheap shopping trip π€£
Hi Visionon, great to have you back on board again. It sounds like you had a wonderful run today - I agree about enjoying these cooler temperatures at last. π
Iβd have thought your trainers should have lasted longer than 470km ... but if theyβre showing signs of wear maybe itβs time for a new pair. π
Yeah must admit I am not sure about the trainers, as I said the shock absorbing foam underneath the tread is starting to wear, because the tread has worn right down. I'll do some Googling and see what I find.
Great to see you Visionon! π I see that you've been very busy running! That's so great! Well done for building up some great running legs and best wishes for those 10Ks. Sounds like you're ready!! πβ€οΈ
