Despite my knee playing up now and again I've still been getting short runs in. It settles really well once I'm into the run so I've just been going with the flow. We've had lots of rain here overnight so I headed off in a damp cooler atmosphere this morning which was a welcome change.
The roads were very quiet and it was lovely to run almost alone apart from a few other like minded runners. At one point I found myself running with a squirrel for company as he ran along the fence of a garden I was passing. 🐿️
The run was no great shakes but another 5k under my belt and a stop to chat to a lady I hadn't seen for a long time.
For now I'm pausing the magic plan and just running as and when I can. No pressure. To all those still running with goals I hope they are going well. Happy running all🏃🏃😉

Nice running Allbarron! I’m impressed by your running with a 🐿 - I can barely match a 🐌 ! Hope your knee stays kind to you so that you can continue with your 5ks. As you say, there’s no pressure to finish the magic plan - and if you push it too much you know it could end in tears! Happy running!
Haha! I only kept up with him as he kept stopping seemingly to let me catch up🥴 I'm choosing to see it that way rather than he could have been just taunting me🤪It was just nice to see him so close 😊
It sounds like you have got yourself back to a good place with your running. It's a great idea to take the pressure off and just run for the fun of it. Well done on your 5k 😊🌷
Yes, there's a lot of change ahead in our household this week too. Getting out for a run gives me a bit of welcome me time and some headspace, although I have had to begin slotting runs in at random times around everyone else and not my usual early mornings anymore.
Good to see that you're still getting out there. Sounds like you are in a good place with your running and taking care of the niggles. You are so right to stick with what your schedule and body will allow just now. 10k will be waiting for you when you have the time and inclination.
Doing slow and steady. Seems a bit better but will build up gradually. Don't want to put myself totally out of action. Knee exercises are one of the things I have to do as well.
Well done Allbarron - I love your squirrel companion! 😄
Running as you can with an niggling injury is so much better than no running ( assuming it is okay to do so of course). I work to keep Plantar fasciitis under control so I had many months of going with the flow earlier this year. I hope your knee settles down soon. 😄
Oh no!! That can be very painful😰 my husband has suffered with it. I'm hoping it's ok. I listen to my body and do what I can.
Love this! Well done you. Just quietly going out there and running. Time and distance don't matter but going out if you can really does. All these runs will help anyway. Just do your thing and see how it feels, then if you do more or less you just go with it. I think you'll surprise yourself running this way😊 I'm really pleased you posted so thank you for doing it. Keep doing what you're doing.
Thanks GTFC. I'm not posting so much as there's not really much to say. The old me would have given up but thanks to the things I read here and coming this far I'm happy just to keep ticking over til I get the problem identified or sorted. As you say every step counts and in a strange way I've sort of tricked my brain into thinking there's no pressure so my gremlins are a little easier to deal with. I ran a guided run this morning that was all about those runs that suck. The thing is not all runs can be great sometimes you or the run just aren't the success you planned but they're all part of the experience. Thanks for your support 👍👍
Absolutely!! You have got this right and it's those runs that make us. Just keep posting because you're really interesting and we all love to see how you're doing. Run, run for you 😊
I have bookmarked those, and once I finish my NHS 12 week Programm (I am in week 11), I will focus on specific areas.
And knees is the first area I will focus on, as I also have some niggles. Strangely enough less when running, but I can feel them (and the beginning of pain) when I do lunges or take 2 steps at once.
Thank you. I've book marked that page too. I just don't fit them in as often as I should. My knee is the same as yours. Much better when I run but walking or standing can set it off 🥴
Sounds just what you need Allbarron, keeping going at your own pace taking care of your body is definitely worth far more than sticking to a plan that might not work for you right now. I’m tweaking the Magic Plan so much it’s hardly recognisable but I’m enjoying my running more now I’ve slowed down. 🤗
