I had a firm word with myself about not doing more than I'm ready for, and decided not to try race for Life today, because of the temptation to go further or faster when you're amongst other runners.
Instead, I accompanied a friend and her daughter who have just completed c25k with a local running group. They have their first Parkrun next Saturday, and wanted to do a 30min run this morning. We went to the canalside playing field where they did their training, and ran around the field, along the canal and back. It was at a slower pace than I normally run. I could relax into the pace, and I was able to keep up a flow of chatter, which distracted my friend nicely π And thanks to this website, I could also show them some good cooldown stretches. I think they felt better about running without their coaches because I was there too (and they couldn't wimp out because we'd arranged to run) so we all got something from it. Three happy runners today, wishing you all happy runs this week.

It's a nice thing to do now and again, it's a good way to check if you're running at conversation pace too (swearing at dogs, bugs, nettles doesn't count π )
What a lovely run for all of you. Social for you, and sensible. They will have appreciated having you along so much. Looking comfortable and sharing your experience and stretching knowledge!
Good luck to them at their first Parkrun next week, they will be more confident because of you!πxxx
