Back out today on my August quest. The plan only shows .5k for today’s run. But, I knew that in advance (apart from thinking it was 50 mtrs for a time! 😳🤪, probably due to the shock of the low expectations! 😂)
Anyway, 500 mtrs it is! Or at least I thought I would contain myself and just stick to the plan 🤓. I’ve got a long way to go until the end of August. And to be honest I had a pretty physically strenuous day yesterday doing some DIY. I’m doing strengthening exercises in between run days too, so I’m feeling a touch achey today anyway.
I was a bit wary of my last experience with the App’s odd display and lack of announcements when your following a specific plan, so it was not the most relaxing start. I did try to keep my eye on the phone while I ran so I would know when to stop. But....No display of the distance, just time and pace! 🙄🤪. Really they do need to do something about this.
But on the plus side, a halfway announcement did occur while on the run!! 🙌🏽! Still, I found that not knowing how far you’ve run when you have a specific distance to go, affected how I tried to pace myself. Did I want to go harder or keep it slow? It certainly wasn’t the 10. something pace that was recommended. It was around 7. something. Did I need to slow down? 🤯 I had to give up on that thought process. It just wasn’t worth my time. Too much drama! 😂
Anyway, after the 0.5 complete announcement came. I was happy to run on (in peace 🤩) back home. I was close enough to home and I didn’t have to consider a thing. I ran just under 1k in the end!! I don’t know folkes, I shall continue on this plan, but really I kind of like the rebel runner that I naturally am. Still... this is about getting into a regular running routine, so the mission continues. It’s a run! ✅ Pushing too much today wouldn’t have been wise anyway.
Happy running Runners! ❤️

Hi! Love the similarities with this and Roxdog's post. I like your creative spark in running and this is a great characteristic of yours. You are keeping going though and that is most definitely the main thing! I've found that during and after B210k that doing my own thing was best. I set a minimum distance (5m) that I wanted as my short run and then when I ran it I could carry on or stop depending how I feel. Now every week I do that at least twice with one run further and I can go nice and steady or if I feel like it I can open the box. It's no pressure and enjoyable 😁
A good start for you though, these are important moments because they will keep you going.
Definitely itching to go back to free running. I still use guided runs, but the ones outside of a plan are better. They talk a bit and I don’t have to look at your phone either. I guess I’m just used to it being that way. I could just pick one of those and then assign it to the run in the plan. In fact, I think I’m going to do just that! I think I can make it work!💡🤩❤️
Thank you Roxdog!! 🤗 GTFC has said you’ve had a similar experiences. There’s nothing better than running free for me! Let’s face it, we can start and stop when we want and it’s always a run! 🤩🤩❤️
Exactly, I love a free run and dislike plans, so am developing a loose framework to work with, despite having a bit of a competitive streak! Glad I'm not the only one!
You can make it work and you will because you are the heartbeat and all the other things are peripheral. Mix and match and pick n mix and you'll get the best recipe for you!
No, 😂😂 but it tried a bit better today 🤓. I’m going back to running free and choosing from the better guided runs on the app now. 🤷🏽♀️ I will just assign it to the run in the plan afterwards. Sticking to what I enjoy!! 🤩❤️
Hi Fabulous 😃. I love your free and easy approach 😊. I'm going to get my 60 minutes and 10k under my belt and then I shall take a leaf out of your's and Roxdog's book and give it a go 😊🏃♀️🌷.
Thanks so much!! 🤗🤗 Honestly, I know this approach is not for everyone. It’s just the way that I have kept running two years on. As soon as it becomes disciplined, I don’t enjoy it quite so much. That said....I probably don’t run quite so far either. But I like surprises!! 😂❤️
Love your posts and inspiration 😄 go fab keep doing it your way ...btw i started the c25k yesterday again im so unfit i struggled with the first run but done i did 🏃so im back on it ..keep running and posting 🏃
Thanks so much!! Wooh hoo Myrar!! That’s fantastic news. 🤩🤩 Great to have you back. I’m building back up to running regularly myself, so you’re really not alone!! Let’s go!! 😁😁😁❤️
