Now thereβs no need to state the obvious....itβs hot! π₯π₯π₯π₯
Itβs so hot that my 3 runs per week was looking a bit shady yesterday π₯΄. It was my first run day of the week, but because of the heat the day before, I didnβt sleep well and I was still tired and drained when I woke up π₯±.
The sun came out blazing very early and the heat was turned up to full π₯π₯π₯, so I thought Iβd try to run in the late evening. However, being baked inside the house and outside the whole day does make you feel like an oven roasted crispy chickenπ π€«! Thereβs was no running movement going to go on here π. I did go for a walk though and I wasnβt the least bit tempted to run! π
Today, I was having non of it π¦Ύ! I was up and out before 7am for intervals. 5 mins warm up! 4 x 1 min at 5k pace, 4 x 1 min at 10k pace and then 4 x 1 minute at 1mile pace. It was hot, but bearable and I was so happy on my way home, I did an extra little jog too! ππ½ββοΈπ
Yesterday the sun beat me. But...today I beat the sun right back! π π

Above and beyond Fab! It was so hot here yesterday we took the grandchildren to a wood which was sooooo cool then hid indoors with 2 fans on. Off to Scotland tomorrow so itβll be fine π.
You beat the sun, well done, good run for you, 7am was a good time to run, although warm at that time it wasn't the very hot temperatures of the afternoon, enjoy the rest of the day.
Thank so much AlMoor!! π€ Yes youβre right, I could feel the heat rising as I was getting ready to go, but timed it perfectly. There was still a decent amount of shade in the park and it was getting pretty clear that it wasnβt going to be there at all soon when it was time to leave! π
I reran run 1 of week 3 of C25K this morning at 7.40 for a little practice, overall its 16 minutes, once the instructions about running and walking were over, I continued running non stop until the 5K was finished. despite the walking breaks my time at 5K was 35.46, which was quite surprising as a few weeks ago on a Saturday as part of the not parkrun runs I ran a 5K non stop in a time of 36.50, however, that was only two days after I ran 10 miles non stop and my legs felt very heavy. π ππΎ
I ran/walked it at twenty to eight to avoid the heat of later in the day, during the night Central Scotland had thunderstorms which caused a lot of flooding in some areas but where I live we only had a 5 minute burst of heavy rain and no flooding but there was plenty of lightning.
I reran week 3 of C25K with the walking breaks but after 16 minutes of run 3 I continued running non stop until the 5K was completed, good run despite the high humidity.
Thanks Grannyhugs! π€ It was nice to finish. I did have my little get out clause of βif itβs too much, you can stopβ, but wasnβt required in the end. ππ½ πβ€οΈ
Good on you getting up earlier to be the heat and you did it in style with intervals. I hope you're managing to cool down now πββοΈπββοΈππ
Well done on getting out and keeping in with the 3x a week. That sounds like a right good session. You're doing all the right things so just keep consistent and the rewards are there π
I was a bit frustrated by not being able to go out yesterday for a bit, but I had to be sensible and remind myself that running is for fun, not punishment. π
I enjoyed my intervals this morning. I wasnβt sure if 12 was going to be too much, but it was perfect for pushing a bit, but not too much. It was a really good guided run. No faffing about with checking distances on the phone. I just assigned the run to my current plan afterwards. ππ½ππβ€οΈ
Great work! It's great that you can mix up the running. You know it's strange but I really like the experience running brings. It makes you very calm and composed about things. You're doing great. You going Friday then Sunday for a slower one?
Great dedication Fab! ππ. I'm impressed and glad that you're getting out and like the sound of your intervals. What app or plan are you using?
I couldn't face it yesterday morning. I met up with my brother & his family near Oxford for a socially distanced picnic lunch in the shade and was drained by the time we got home. I've also got plantar fascitis on my right foot so I'm doing tons of exercises to strengthen everything before I next go out. I'll be in Wales soon though and it will definitely be cooler! π
I use the Nike NRC App. I really enjoy the variety of guided runs. I can always find something that fits the mood. They have 7 minute runs, long runs, headspace runs....a βdonβt wanna runβ run! The names just grab you and the guided coaching doesnβt disappoint. The coach when youβre on a specific plan that you build isnβt that exciting though. You basically just run without a lot of input.
If you do decide to try the app, you can definitely start off gently, but come back really inspired for the next time. Didnβt think Iβd do 12 intervals this morning, but the coaching was great. Still love a guided run!! πππβ€οΈ
Thanks Fab, think I'll give the NRC a go when I get back from Wales - I don't want to get lost in an unfamiliar place so will run 'naked' π - loving the new Afterschokz though! πΆπ§β₯οΈ
Woohoo, fantastic Fab! Early is the way to go isnβt it? I simply donβt know how people run in the evenings after a full day, let alone when itβs this hot. π₯΅π₯΅π₯΅π₯΅π₯΅
Nice work! We went out last night, kept putting it off because of the heat and finally bit the bullet only to get caught in a massive storm! Torrential rain was lovely in the heat, lightning less so π
Itβs much cooler today, with a little rain this morning and βthe stormβ still likely. Temperatures are still forecast to be high, and thankfully tomorrow is run day.
Well done you are braver than me. With the sun, humidity and my own hot moments, havenβt attempted a run this week, maybe tomorrow as donβt want to put off to long.
Hey CDAF, ππ½ππ½ I hear you loud and clear! The human central heating system doesnβt help π, itβs my August quest that keeps me finding a way!π€π½I can substitute with exercise, but 3 days a week, Iβm going out there, even if itβs just for 5 minutes. I decided that I will jog round the block at midnight like a mad person, if I have to. Dodging the humidity as best as I can! Iβm not even trying to do it when itβs blazing! π€£π€£! Wish me luck, two more runs to go this week! I may be soaked through or taken off the streets. πβ€οΈ
Yay...good for you Fab...youβre right too, itβs def been boiling...and Intervals are the perfect way to get you out there...you nailed it girl! Brilliant! πππ»πͺπ»
