Following the wise words of my fellow Bridge to 10kers I decided to do the 5.5k run this morning - afterall we're trying to build distance aren't we?
Mindful that although I've completed two other 5ks this week neither of them have been non-stop runs, I set out round my beautiful local park. Went further in today and encountered a mean hill but I knew if I forgot about pace I could do it! Afterall what goes up must come down In fact the downhill section was harder than the uphill as I haven't quite mastered dealing with my own momentum.
Looked at my lovely new running watch and it said I was at 4k.....1500m to go.....the distance no girl (except my best friend who would take on and beat most of the boys!) wanted to run on sports day because it was too far......and here am I doing it after having already run for 25mins+....it's phenomenal what can be achieved when you give it a go!
Someone on here wrote "run like a child" - I wish I could remember who because it is such a lovely thought. Children don't worry about their pace or distance or compare themselves to others they just run around because it's fun!
Happy Running everyone

I play Tenor saxophone very badly - you should give it a go! Rehearsed with the Central Band of the Royal British Legion tonight and it gave me loads of calories
Thank you! I truly believed I couldn't run until I started this - I was absolutely, embarassingly and amusingly terrible at all sport at school. Couch25k has been instrumental in breaking it down into achievable chunks and teaching me the importance of finding a comfortable pace. Looking forward to getting up to 10k and maybe even beyond
Good work, PT! Sounds like a happy run. I struggle with downhill a bit too, and take it really easy – worried I will not be able to stop if I follow the momentum of my body on a downward incline! x
I hate running downhill, My local parkrun is done over 4 laps, it’s a long slog uphill then a really nasty short steep downhill. First time I did it I had to walk down the hill, mind you, I couldn’t run up it then either 🤔😆
Haha! It's really hard isn't it? My Parkrun is along the seafront so couldn't really be any flatter. It's boring running there all the time though hence why I've decided hills hold no fear for me - might live to regret saying that 😂
Well done Piano. And you got your watch all hooked up - excellent!
The Pakrun route here is really flat and I run that but am looking for some more interesting routes. Went on a walk this morning to check one out and there was one nasty bit of downhill. I figure I can always walk if it feels like I might end up rolling down it 😂
