I’m still standing

All the very best to those of you stalwarts who will be thoroughly enjoying beating their feet on the London streets in tomorrow’s 10K. More power to your elbows, and the other moving parts too, of course. Particular mention to Clubberlang who started C25K at the same time as me, and has slowly and carefully honed his running skills, all recorded in posts here. Good luck mate. Do really well!

We were about the same starting weight and started about the same time in March . That’s it! End of similarity. We are both now lighter and fitter. Clubberlang is talking of HMs, Half Marathons! Wow! Me, I am happy just plodding round about 4K, three times a week in a quite slow time of about 38 minutes. Not everyone is an amazing athlete with the motivation to just get fitter, faster and further. I will settle for getting a little regular exercise, losing a little weight and inches round my waist. That’s the most obvious bit. Nearly ten kilos lighter. That is my motivation now. Keep exercising, lose a bit of weight and keep finding fun music to run to. So that is where today’s title came from. Elton John, from long ago. I have no wish to run 10k. If I want to go that far, I have a bus pass. Three runs a week and losing weight too, qualifies me for entry into the regular monthly “Quest”. Do I need to do more? Is that enough to allow me to read and occasionally post on this great site? Or is it just for really motivated ambitious distance runners? I hope not.

P.s. I tried most of the free running apps and in my situation, don’t need lap times etc, so am really happy to run to the RockMyRun app. Really happy!

Enjoy your running.

So agree with your distance objectives etc. I’ve no desire to go over 5k. Just jogging along every other day or so is great.

Bit like me primaballerina, I enjoy the shorter 5K runs, my other excersises, 🚴 cycling and 🚶 walking, this week I have ran two 5Ks, one of them my first parkrun and the other a PB, this coming weekend, no parkrun but on Saturday and next Wednesday I will run one of the longer C25K runs with Laura before running my second parkrun on Saturday 27th July.

Hi Hatman, a lovely post from you! I have that Elton John track on my running playlist👍

I believe this forum is for everybody to share their running experiences, giving and receiving support is what helps most of us stay motivated, and that is the most important thing... getting out to run because we want to, and enjoying the benefits.

Its always nice to read run reports and chat about our running, to join the Quest and offer congratulations to others...😊 Well done to you for continuing to run three times a week and becoming lighter and fitter...and good luck to Clubberlang this weekend, I'm sure he is happy and proud of you too!

Happy running and keep posting!😊xx
