I was planning to go to Lincoln parkrun this morning but found out last night that it had been cancelled so went along to Market Rasen instead. It is a nice flat, broad course around the racecourse, so can be quick. Well, I went off too quick (5:46 for the first km) and I thought โoh no, Iโm going to regret thisโ. 3km in 17:48 and I suddenly started to think maybe I could finally reach that elusive goal. Legs starting to get a bit tired and at 4km I was just over 24 minutes. By this stage I was absolutely determined to crack it, so paced myself against a lady who had been going the same pace as me and had started to speed up. Final km in 5:47, Strava 5k time 29:43, official time 29:56,3rd in my age group and an age rating of 61.3%. My parkrun 1st anniversary run as well. I feel so emotional. Definitely one of my proudest achievements in running. Have a great weekend running friends!
PS There were 19 in my age group ๐ฎ

Sandie, how fabulous, Congratulations to you. Sub 30? Yay!!!! ๐๐โโ๏ธ๐๐๐๐พ๐ฅ๐๐
It was hot today, so well done. No wonder you felt emotional. I was 31:44 despite starting off well, so no PB or sub 30 for me. The trouble is Iโm already on the 2nd fastest course, so tourism wonโt help me.
I hope you celebrate in style after your parkrun anniversary. ๐พ๐ฅ
After 2 successive over 33 mins at Penrith and Leamington, it came completely out of the blue. Thankfully the weather here was overcast and only 15 degrees, which helped enormously! Still grinning ๐๐
Thanks cheeky, but 6 seconds slower than my official PB, so a bit frustrating. UTS ran with me most of the way after doing the first timers briefing, which was nice. I think he enjoyed a leisurely parkrun for a change. I will get to 31 mins one day. ๐โโ๏ธโก๏ธ
You definitely will Dexy! ๐โโ๏ธ๐๐ช๐ I know it! ๐๐
My PR was ok, although it was humid this morning and I had no power in my legs at all after my 17k on Thursday. Note to self - allow 2 rest days after a long run next time! ๐๐ฅต๐โโ๏ธ๐
Oh fantastic and many congratulations to you on your first sub 30 minute 5K. Itโs a great milestone and takes a lot of hard work to get there. Iโm delighted for you. Yahoo! Have a great weekend.
Sandie, you are EPIC! Mahoosive congratulations, I canโt even imagine (will probably never know! ๐ ๐ ) how it feels to go that quickly. ๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ
Amazing. Well done you! ๐ฅ๐๐ฅ๐๐ฅ๐๐ฅ
That is brilliant! What a great achievement and how good to do it on your parkrun anniversary too! I am in awe as my big ambition is to do it in less than 40 mins!
Whoop whoop ๐๐๐๐ชthat's brilliant Sandie! Congratulations and very well done to you for all those achievements. No wonder you're a bit emotional. Enjoy the glory ๐
Oh what a brilliant way to celebrate your park runniversary Sandie, that's really special - you worked hard for that, well done (And I'm so jealous of that age rating, fab!)
I sure will! If you're anywhere near Cleethorpes, we're doing the 5k on Sunday, 15th Sept on the prom There's a delicious-sounding half marathon but I plumped for the shorter distance so I can run it with my niece. It's Tape2Tape Humber Coastal Series race
What a great idea! Unfortunately I am definitely not up to a marathon or even a half. Aiming for 10 miles, possibly for Great South with cheekychipmunks and Dexy5 in October!
Absolutely fantastic Sandie, I also broke the dreaded 30 minute mark at Preston parkrun today it is an amazing feeling and it put a smile on my face the whole day. 2 weeks ago I came in at 30.02 and I was gutted as I was so close today the run felt so different and I came in at 29.33. Well done again
Brilliant, well done Boss1973 I can imagine how gutted you were at 30.02. My previous best was 31.14 so yesterday was a bit of a surprise. I couldnโt stop smiling all day either ๐
Not sure why this has popped up now, as it was back in the summer, but thank you anyway. Done it another 3 times now, so next target is a sub 60 10k ๐ฌ
