I finally pushed through the 30 minute barrier at my local parkrun yesterday, after a couple of months of specifically training to do it with the help of the Garmin Coach 5k feature on my watch ๐
I'd had a couple of knee injuries during c>5k, and after I graduated that, I ran a parkrun in September last year I ended up with an extreme tightness in the arch of my right foot which took a good few weeks to ease off, so I ended up resting all the way through until December - so far that approach seems to have worked as a good couple of months of running 4 times a week has now gone and I feel fine ๐ค๐ป
All in this is actually only my 7th parkrun to date. That number should star to rise steadily now!
Next on my list now is to find a few local 10km races (I know I can cover the distance, just no confidence of a particular time) to enter to help me get ready for the English Half Marathon in Warrington this September ๐

Amazing! Well done ๐๐๐ So nice to achieve a goal! And a sub-30 min 5k on only your 7th park run is fab. Took me 18 months to get that time myself! ๐ Happy running, Thecko. ๐
Well done to you Thecko on achieving your goal of a sub 30 minute 5K and at your 7th Parkrun, no particular time for a 10K but deep inside you will be wanting to achieve a sub 60 minute run for that, good luck for your training for the English Half Marathon in September.
Sub 30 for a 5k is my dream....had this talk with a fellow runner friend today as we were running a 10k. I want sub 30 for the end of the year and to have completed at least 3, 10K races (first one next week) so only 2 more after that!!
Congratulations and great sub 30 min time. Iโve been working hard like you to go sub 30 since the start of January. My Parkrun PB was done yesterday at 28:25. Iโm going to work on a sub 28 now.
27:21 is great and a super effort. Very well done again.
