Set out this morning at 6.50 with no intentions of trying for a sub 5k...itβs only ever been a dream. The weather here is glorious this morning. No head phones today just the tweeting of the birds and the early morning traffic.
My garmin beeped to say I had done my first km, time 6:04. Much quicker than I thought, but I felt comfortable. Second km 5:58, wondering can I keep this pace up? Third km 5:59. Now the challenge was on, in my head I was thinking this is my chance to do it. Pushed on to, fourth km 5:56. Nearly there, really having to push the last the last 500 meters. It looked such a long way off and momentarily stopped for a split second with about 200 to go. Then I thought of my dear mam saying you can do it, keep going , so I sprinted until I I heard my garmin beep at 5k. Last km 5:52.
I had done it 29:55. In shock π±π€ͺ

Thanks so muchππ» I think she definitely would be. I know it sounds a bit weird but her strength and battle for life is my strength and she has inspired me since I started the C25K, especially not to give up when things are tough.
I am thrilled beyond words. Her inspiration and the support of this forum has been fabulous π
Thank you Sparky66 π I am still in shock π± 10 mile last week and a sub 5k this week. Where is it all coming from. I think I must have sprouted wings over night πππ
My best 5k before today was 31:17, so thatβs 1:22 off my past PB. I was just saying to hubby I think doing the longer distances has definitely helped. I also at the end of each run tried to run the last 400 metres or so the fastest I could. Today really was a dream, truly unexpected. I realised that 2k in it could be done if I pushed.
You can do it too, I see some of your posts and they have inspired me to achieve ππ
That's amazing Dups! Yes I always push that last stretch aswell.. I done a 12K and a 10 last couple of runs so going to do a couple of 5Ks maybe one slow and one fast.. see how I get on .. see if I can catch you up a bit πThen onwards towards that HM π³πββοΈ

Amazing! Well done. It's my aim to do the 5k in 30 or less minutes. My best so far is 32 and a few seconds I would love to do it by my 70th in September.I can't wait to feel that feeling that you are feeling now. Well done again xx
I remember saying that after my first one, and it was probably about 3 months before I did, but it's now typically about the pace I go at, so you may surprise yourself.
