I was planning to go to Lincoln parkrun this morning but found out last night that it had been cancelled so went along to Market Rasen instead. It is a nice flat, broad course around the racecourse, so can be quick. Well, I went off too quick (5:46 for the first km) and I thought “oh no, I’m going to regret this”. 3km in 17:48 and I suddenly started to think maybe I could finally reach that elusive goal. Legs starting to get a bit tired and at 4km I was just over 24 minutes. By this stage I was absolutely determined to crack it, so paced myself against a lady who had been going the same pace as me and had started to speed up. Final km in 5:47, Strava 5k time 29:43, official time 29:56,3rd in my age group and an age rating of 61.3%. My parkrun 1st anniversary run as well. I feel so emotional. Definitely one of my proudest achievements in running. Have a great weekend running friends!
PS There were 19 in my age group 😮
