It's the 4th week of the June Quest - please feel free to join
What is the Quest?
The aim of the Quest is to help you find a focus or goal that you would like to achieve by the end of the Quest period.
The Quest takes one calendar month. You can join at any point during that time.
I ask that you are a C25K Graduate before joining the Quest. The reason for this is that pre-graduation your week is very much structured according to the C25K programme, and I wouldn't want the Quest to interfere with that.
Most popular goals are:
★ To run three times a week
★ To slowly increase distance
★ To train for a specific race
★ To add Stretch and Strength exercises to your weekly routine
This is a personal challenge, so it's completely up to you! If you want to join, all you have to do is comment below with something like:
I would like to join the Quest, or, count me in! I want to ..............
At the end of the Quest, there will be a certificate for you to download and keep!!
Wishing you a wonderful week of running! 💥

I am back to a normal routine now. It was nice to help my Dad get up to date with the garden and go to his over 50’s exercise class.
Now it is time for me to start the strength part of my year. Three gym session and two runs with one speed walk. I am upping the gym from 1 to 3 because for my next project I need to be a bit more stronger than I am right now. 😀💪.
I’m looking into an ultra hike. Early days at the moment but the one I like the look of is 40 miles and I did it when I was 11😳. I need to be a lot stronger than I am now as it is all off road and very hilly. So run training will really help me build up as well as gym work.
Throughout June I’ve managed 2-3 runs as hoped for, done a couple of 5ks as hoped, did my 1st parkrun without stopping, which I definitely hoped for😀😀😀, As for s&f, managed that the 1st week, the other weeks I went swimming &played badminton & some gardening, which is ok.
Still struggling with s&f, still I did parkrun so miracles do happen, hopefully one will happen with s&f 😂
I've started week 2 of the Magic 10, I need to work on my pace, too quick at the beginning, fading badly at the end so that's the goal for my next two shorter runs this week, slow it down and don't die at the end!
As reported in another thread, ✅#2 achieved by running 12k in 65 minutes on Wednesday, so back on my stretch target line for a sub-90 GSR in October 👍😀.
Now off for a week of sunny indulgence (hopefully), so whether monthly target #3 (2k @ 13 kph on a treadmill) will be met must be in considerable doubt 😀. But I will at least have a look at the hotel gym, honest!
Have a great holiday, it is good to remember that rest periods are really good for your running too. Well done on your 12km and in such a great time too. Rfc x
I did my 8km race yesterday and I enjoyed it very much. So even though I don't want to do more road races, I think I'll sign up for the Streets of Galway race in August. It will be my third year doing it and it will always have a special place in my heart. This week, I'll probably do a recovery 5km and a longer run at the weekend, on the trails that I prefer. I badly need to get back to my core strength work. Maybe that'll be my July Quest.
I think we all have that one run that is deeply imbedded in our hearts, mine is my Hackney half and already know I will miss it next year. Well done on your 8km race, I am glad you enjoyed it. There are a few of us working on our S&F, so good for us but so hard to motivate 😂. Enjoy your recovery period. Rfc x
I'm going to run today I think as the temperatures in France are going into the 30's from tomorrow. I will head over to S&F and see if there is a quest, thanks.
We will help you over on the S&F . It is muggy here and my run was hard. I am not sure which I prefer out of the two Hot or muggy. Look after your hydration if your running in that sort of heat. take care and happy running Rfc x
Hello RFC, I missed joining the June quest because I wasn’t sure what we were doing with holiday plans etc, but I seem to be on a mission to increase my distance to 10 miles. I reached 12k last week (1:34), just (!!) another 4k to add over the summer.
That’s it! Once the Great South Run is over, I’ll be going back down to 10k again.
You can be part of it, there are no time limits, I’m all for all inclusive. Well done on your 12km, I know that feeling of “just”. You will do it. 😀. Happy running. Rfc x
Practise makes perfect, yoga is for everyone RFC, I have a post where I’ve listed all the yoga poses that supposedly assist with running, happy to share the info.
Oh that would be good, could you post it on the S&F. I am sure lots of people on there would find it interesting. I think with yoga I am a very slow burner. I need to have one exercise and do it at home and keep doing it then add in something another one, Maybe that could be my next Just one thing. A daily yoga pose, sounds like a plan to me. Thank you. Rfc x
