Hello Questers!

It's the fourth week of the May Quest - please feel free to join

What is the Quest?

The aim of the Quest is to help you find a focus or goal that you would like to achieve by the end of the Quest period.

The Quest takes one calendar month. You can join at any point during that time.

I ask that you are a C25K Graduate before joining the Quest. The reason for this is that pre-graduation your week is very much structured according to the C25K programme, and I wouldn't want the Quest to interfere with that.

Most popular goals are:

★ To run three times a week

★ To slowly increase distance

★ To train for a specific race

★ To add Stretch and Strength exercises to your weekly routine

This is a personal challenge, so it's completely up to you! If you want to join, all you have to do is comment below with something like:

I would like to join the Quest, or, count me in! I want to ..............

At the end of the Quest, there will be a certificate for you to download and keep!!

Wishing you a wonderful week of running! 💥

Hi RFC, I believe that I am replying to the Quest. Please redirect if I am wrong.

I graduated on Saturday at a 5K park run. Today I did what I called W9R4. I tried to concentrate on placing forefoot down first each step. I added 30 metres to my distance too. It seems to take 10/15 minutes until my breathing settles down. I also want to work on that too by the end of the month. There is nearly a fortnight left, May I join your quest please?

Hi there Of course you can join the Quest, welcome. Be very careful changing how you plant your feet, a forced change can bring imbalances, i know there is a variety of differences of opinion on this topic but never force yourself to do something that doesn't feel natural as your other muscles might not be in the correct place for the change. It sounds like a good progression on the distance front. On the breathing side It takes us all a while for our bodies to get into a run. It is known as the toxic ten. 😀. Happy running. Rfc x

Big agreement with RFC from me - I had serious grief from calves and achilles when I tried to push myself into forefoot running. Got over it, but have moved back towards my heels now ......

Hi Rfc, Congratulations on your super HM, I've just been reading the report!😊

A good week from me, puffs out chest, three runs last week! 😆 I ran a 4k on Tuesday, a 7k on Thursday, and then a 5k on Sunday... Really enjoying working on inclines too... I listened to your advice and take baby strides as I go up, thinking of my hamstrings, all good.

We didn't do our long Oxford walk in the end, but walked around Bushey Park for about an hour and a half ( found a new bit with a good café The Pheasantry).

No exercise videos done, but some gardening...

This week I hope to try for 10k maybe Thursday, and hopefully two shorter runs either side.

And do at least the 30 mins of pilates...

Happy Questing everyone! 😊xxx

Woo hoo bluebird. 7km and a 10km planned. You’re looking good girl 👍

Well done on your runs. you have a good total distance going on there. we had a walk round Bushey park a couple of years ago, am I right in thinking it was the birthplace of parkrun? good luck with your 10KM. Rfc x

Was out and about yesterday Rfc, forgot to ask, how are your knees, legs, feet recovering? Hope all is feeling almost back to normal after Sunday...xx

Almost back to normal. Now. I did a gentle 5km walk yesterday which went well. I am just taking it easy this week. Thanks for asking. Rfc x

Hi RFC

Second monthly target 🎯✅

Long slow distance up to 14k, first 4k sensibly with Dexy in 30 mins, then 10k in just over an hour for 92 mins total.

Also managed a year’s best Parkrun on Saturday, with no twinges 😀 or after-effects 😀😀

Final target for the month is 11k at “race pace” this week. Somewhere between 60 & 66 mins hopefully 🤪

Onwards and upwards!!

Well done on your runs. you should manage your target next week easily with all the work you have put in. Glad you are twinge free. Happy running Rfc x

This is my 10km trail race week. I’m registered to do a 10km in the castle triathlon series. However, an elderly uncle died alone recently and my family has planned a mountain climb to spread his ashes on Sunday. My race day ! I don’t know what to do as I would like to pay my respects. I have emailed the organisers to see if I can run the course on Friday or Saturday. This castle is not usually open to the public. Fingers crossed they’ll allow me to do it. No bling, no chip time but I don’t care. Fingers crossed 🤞

Sorry for your and your family's loss Paula. I hope you do get chance to run the course on a different day, understandably you will want to be with your family on Sunday.

There will be other chances to run this event in the future I'm sure.

Fingers crossed that things work out for you, I feel you would regret not sharing Sunday with your family....best wishes xxx

in reply toBluebirdrunner

I’ve emailed them to see if I can run the course over the weekend so fingers crossed. I might do one of these 10kms instead.

Are you tempted? 😆

Ha, what terrific venues Paula...I have visited Castle Howard and was born in Chester, but don't know Cholmonderley Castle as we moved south when I was 2 yrs old! The one in Chantilly sounds good. The closest one to me is Hever, but that is HM and M only!

I have been brave and entered a 10k race though later this year😉xxx

Is that Lough Cutra Castle race near to you?

in reply toBluebirdrunner

That’s it bluebird. I’m hopeful they’ll let me run it. I might go as a spectator on Saturday to watch the triathlon and relays. I’m tempted by the chantilly race but France could be very hot in August. What 10km have you signed up for ?

Bluebirdrunner profile image
BluebirdrunnerGraduate10 in reply to

I haven’t released that bit of information yet Paula!😆

I want to go and walk the route first to check I feel capable😉....

Its not for a few months though😊xxx

in reply toBluebirdrunner

Just between you and me. No one else is listening 🤣 you’ll be just fine. I’m certain 👍

Did my 10k run this evening Paula...warm but there was some shade.😎

Any news about the weekend?xx

in reply toBluebirdrunner

Fantastic news bluebird. You are hiding your running light under a bushel. They won’t allow me to run the castle course. But I have found a forest near the mountain where we will have a little ceremony for my uncle. And I plan to run my 10km there on Saturday. My brother will cheer me on with his dogs 🐶 😊

Just seen it is the Castle Howard one. I used to live that way, Malton, and my Dad still lives near by. if I remember right the Lord of the house was called Simon and he was a nice chap ,I am sure if you found him on social media he might help if the organisers cant. good luck.

Rather like UpTheStanley , I too ran 14k this week, en route to my target goal of 10 miles on June 11th - the day I started C25K last year. 😀 I also did PR of course (that’s a given!) and a pleasant little 4k trot around the trails with my dog. All in all a fantastic week of running for me. ❤️

So my quest is to creep up my long run to 15k next week and resist going for the 10 miles too soon, as I really want it to be special when it happens. I might even need tissues! 🤧 😢 😅🏃‍♀️👍🎉

Hi RFC

I’m trying to run regularly again and follow juju plan by time. I did 15, 35 and 30 (hills) mins this week (weds to tues) - so one week down!

Trying to lose some weight as well, see if that adds roller skates to this snail 🐌 so I can repeat by distance.

When I started building up I did it by time first, it worked for me. Well done on your first week. Good luck on the weight front Rfc x

Hello RFC, I’ve only managed 2 runs for the last 2 weeks but pleased to get my fastest 5k at parkrun last weekend, and I’ve run 3 x 10k this month, so consolidation is going to plan.

Loving the warmer weather 😎☀️🏃‍♀️
