Here we are right in the middle of Summer, how has your running year gone so far?
How is it all going for everyone... are we keeping on target...as the days stretch out before us
On Sunday, I am just a week away from my HM, and... still managing to get the runs in here and there...with my last long run this Sunday
What the Quest is;
The Quest takes one calendar month . You can at join any point during that time.
The aim of the Quest is to help you find a focus or goal that you would like to achieve by the end of the Quest period.
I ask that you will be a Graduate to join the Quest. The main reason I ask this is that while you are completing the programme, your plan is very structured so I wouldn't want the Quest to interfere with that.
Most popular goals are:-
To run three times a week
To slowly increase distance
To train for a specific race
To add In Stretch and Strength exercises
As you can see they are personal to yourself and it's totally your own choice. So if you want to join, all you have to do is put;
I would like to join the Quest, or, count me in and then, I would like to. ..............
Each week in March I shall put up a new post...it is important that we get together and we can chat, support and encourage each other, and generally just see how we are all doing.
At the end of the Quest, there will be a certificate that you can download to keep should you wish to.
Stay safe, stay healthy and stay running x!

My quest is going ok, I am managing to keep up with most things as I hit the busiest time of the year. π, my swimming has taken a hit but I am hoping to be able to add that in this week. π. Have a great week everyone. Rfc x
One of the reasons we started the bridge to 10km forum is because it does get a bit more involved π, everyone is different but I like to do different runs each week, I have a fast one (shorter) and an increasing distance one when Iβm working on getting further, it does help to have the different ones in the week, they both bring something to the table. Have a great week, Rfc x
But going to stealπ,Abiβs caption π€,the 200m all comers Crown for a segment called Penrhos Farm Gate to the beach on Strava. As I look down the not quite straight tarmac track, I visualise it lying on the beach just waiting to be collected.
Not quite,π€ head up and do not look too far ahead initially.π€£
Hi RFC, I'm pleased to have knocked off one of my two monthly targets in the first week, getting my race-pace run out to 14k at a 5'45"/k average. So assuming I can get the second target (a long slow 20k) this week or next, I might have another go at 14k towards the end of the month, just to see if I can maintain a marginally higher pace. I got to 12k at 5'25" pace back in June, before the weather went mad, so surely I should be able to manage 14k at 5'35" in decent conditions? Maybe we'll see β¦β¦β¦..
The 20k is the priority now, though, especially as that cheekychipmunks is threatening 19k this week . But that needs Dexy5 to pace me out to 14k at least - I think she's looking for 15k soon, so maybe it will all come together nicely.
Sounds like it is all going well, I am finding the weather easier for running at the moment, I have a sweet spot in temperature and if it is there I know it will be a good run. π. Happy running.
I'm on holiday and off target. Although hot and humid is my 'go-to' when it comes to challenges, here in Croatia high heat beat me finally. No issues when running after being rested but when you cannot sleep properly because of high temperatures (28c inside last night), you run out of juice very quickly. Oh well. At least l worked on my back and breaststroke while swimming in the warm and clear Adriatic. Back in London tomorrow, services quickly resumed, preps for another marathon soon to start.
Hello Realfoodieclub, well last week was a 4k along the prom, a lovely 8k along the Billy Trail in Hayling Island and then a parkrun in gale force 8 with Oldgirlruns on her c25k graduation. Itβs the first time Iβd tried this Japanese shuffle and it certainly made the run in those conditions easier. Usually my heart rate is sky high battling the strong winds .
With a mini spa break this week, I have less time available for running, but will aim for a short one and a longish one. Volunteering at parkrun on Saturday, so tambourine at the ready.
Weβve just booked the last few places on the New Forest 10k on 8 September, after SlowLoris posted about it, so will incorporate that into the training .
Well done on all your runs. Niko Niko running is gentle, I often use it for my slow steady runs. Have fun at your spa break, rest ( with a bit of pampering) is just as important as your runs. Rfc. X
Keeping up my momentum this month. I ran three times ( twice with Mr BBr) a 4.5k and a 4k and once by myself 8k. We did a 10 Mile walk from Reading to Henley on Thames along the Thames path. I managed to do a pilates session and dId one session of planks and some arm work too.
More of the same this week, just about to go for my long run now...
I am feeling a tad nervous about my 10k hilly race in September, very cold feet.
Mr BBr is building up to try Parkrun, so that might happen this Saturday.
Have a good week everyone, I hope to feel a bit more chipper after my run. πxxx
Have a great run, you are fitting in some great balance there with all your different exercises and so nice you can do it with MrBBr. Iβm sure with all the work you have done you will be more than ready to tackle that hilly 10km in September. Rfc x
Still on target here... I got another 10K in.... I am still working on strengthening my feet and ankles ...and still being very grown up and sensible
Physio gave me the all clear last Friday... had a sports massage, ( ouchie but splendid), and he gave me some exercises for helping with my posture too
All good... Enjoying the coast and hoping to get a run in tomorrow
Hope you get your runs in Rfc...not long now x
Happy running everyone..hope all the goals are going well!
Brilliant. Sounds like you are well and truly on the mend now. I am so pleased for you. Definitely ouch to the sport massage but they do make such a difference, hope you get your run in tomorrow. Rfc x
