I wasn't expecting that! I was all ready at 9 this morning to go on my 'long' run (shall I go for 10k or a more leisurely 8?) for this week, when the guy who's redoing our downstairs loo says ' do you have any spare floor tiles, in case one cracks as I'm cutting it ?' As the answer was no, I had to dash off to get some more. So an hour later I manage to get started on my run, having decided 'might as well go for the 10 and see how it goes'.
I begin my usual 10k route at the top of a hill, so the first 3.5k is all downhill - that's great but it means some uphill stretches later on and particularly the last 2k back to the top. After 5k all's going well and I think 'perhaps I have the chance of a PB' (currently 1.00.39). I push on and realise at 9k that cracking the hour is possible. I've been doing some intervals for the last few weeks and think that helped me keep going up to the 10k at…….59.58! Woohoo!🎉😀
Oh and the extra tiles? They weren't needed….😋

Seriously impressive to me. I know that my two sub 30 5ks involved hard effort, to keep that up for an hour is way beyond where I was then and even further beyond where I am now! Well done for staying at that amazing speed. What is 4 seconds after all!?
