β Runderwear Festival of Running Race finished. I still have to put my (very slow) time in but I should get a medal! Yey! π
β Magic Plan Complete!
β And im looking forward to requesting also my 10k badge here on the Bridge forum!
I canβt believe it, actually! Next weekend will be my 1st Runniversary, which means I went from 0 to 10k in one year!
So I think I was a bit nervous this morning, and had intentionally let people on the forum only know vague plans for my 10k, e.g. it was going to happen at some point this weekend as part of the Festival of running. I think I was too afraid to not manage, and pom-poms ahead would have been just too much pressure! πββοΈ
And this morning I procrastinated a bit by mingling on the forum, but finally got up. Almost forgot to put my sports bra on π€¦π½ββοΈ. Only 1 layer of a T-shirt. Hydration belt and V2 vest all sorted. Just half a cup of a protein shake for breakfast. Weather was perfect: sunny but cool. Went out. Went in again, as had forgotten to go to the toilet.π€¦π½
Went out again, got my RunGo set up to use the HU Spring Run again, just perfect for the occasion. Set Spotify playlist to go. Hit go on Runkeeper. And then hit run on RunGo! Doh! π€¦π»ββοΈ Wrong button! Stopped. Then hit VIRTUAL RUN!
But then I was off. First 5ks where simply wonderful, next 3ks were manageable, especially listening to all the motivational sayings again from our HU community. And I was only flagging in the last km. But that one was hard! So no sprint at the end I fear, just focussing on the beat to force myself to keep on joggling.
Time is ultra-slow, believe me. It takes me the time that others run half marathons. But I have done it.
I have now run 10k!
Thanks everyone for all the support, motivation and insights!
Happy Easter Running, everyone!

Great post, huge congratulations on your 10k, it feels great to have achieved that in one year. Just as well you remembered the sports bra as that would have undoubtedly added time on π±.ππβ π
βspeed is not importantβ - yes, thank your daughter for me. Itβs also lucky for me - as I am really, really ultra slow. Iβm last position at the moment on the Runderwear race, but everyone gets that medal! πβΊοΈπ€π
Congratulations to you CBDB on completing your first 10K, well done remember to tell the administrators that you have ran your first 10K, you will then see the words Graduate10 instead of 60minGraduate next to your username.
Congratulations CBDB thatβs a great milestone youβve passed today! ππ Itβs a lovely day for it too!ππ I hope youβve got a celebration planned?π₯π₯³Iβm aiming to do my Runderwear Festival 10K tomorrow. Iβll post a report on here when I doπββοΈπ
Slow is good! Yesss! (And, yes, it took me forever as well!) thank you! ππβΊοΈππ€π
Wonderful CBDB. HUGE congratulations π₯³ on your first 10k βοΈ. What a super year of running achievement you have enjoyed, along with all the other things you have discovered along the way - I remember persuading you to give yoga and Pilates a try months and months ago, and now look at you! Itβs fantastic. Enjoy your celebrations π ππ€
Absolutely! This has really been such a wonderful journey of discovery, and due to - and amongst - the most supportive running and workout buddies Iβve ever known! So thank you!!! ππ½π€βΊοΈππ
Yay π Yay π great news CBDB , just brilliant, so happy for you , love your pre race preparations π€£π€ A very happy Easter π£
Iβm still a newbie! π€£π€£π€£ But have made running and S&F a big part of my daily life now.
Well done on your 10k today! Iβm amazed by your energy levels! I had my injinjii toe socks on today and love them. I bought them inspired by one of your posts, some point back! ππ
That is absolutely wonderful - well done! Who cares about the time - hitting 10k is something special. Here are an extra couple of medals for you ππππ π₯. Congratulations! ππ₯³ππ€ΈββοΈππ€ΈββοΈπΈπΎπ₯
Amazing (and exhausted π΄) π€£βΊοΈπ€So not quite feeling a buzz π or like dancing ππ½ , but certainly feel like a little glowing star π . Thank you!βΊοΈπ
Way to go CBDB youβre amazing enjoy your new badge and wear your sunglasses for the blingπΆππππ»ββοΈπππ§ββοΈgreat post youβre not alone in doing all those things as you prepare for a special run.
Congratulations CBDB on running your 10k. Don't even bother about your time . You just ran 10k and thats to be celebrated and tell anyone who'll listen. ππππππ₯³π₯³π₯³π₯³π₯³
Thank you! ππ€ and just looking on your time line, and saw you were discussing speed and 10ks. Iβve just accepted my ultra-slow running, but it took me 2 hours to run the 10k. But as long as I take hydration with me, Iβm ok.
Congratulations on your 10k!I totally recognise the go out the door, then back in then the tech start, stop , start routine before finally setting off- sort of a pre run ritual of mine!
Anyway I'm rambling all I really wanted to say was CONGRATULATIONS πππ
Congratulations on your 10k, that's brilliant, and a great achievement, and you deserve a medal for perseverance, the time doesnt matter at all, the longer the better, out there in the fresh air! πππ₯³π₯³π π
Fabulous !! Congratulations ! And Hurrah for sports bras !! I forgot mine once and one minute into my run became seriously concerned that I was having really weird heart palpitations before I realised what was happening π€£
Thank you. And there was a time not long ago where I could not contemplate walking 4K, so as you have said in prior posts... this journey is so worth it. So letβs keep on keeping on! ππ€βΊοΈππ
Well done CBDB, thatβs a brilliant achievement. Donβt worry about βslowβ. Itβs a 10k PB!!! Thatβs all that matters. I hope your legs are feeling ok this morning πππ
Thank you! Legs ok, just a slight headache, which is annoying. But I often get a headache for 24h after a long run! Annoying but living with it. Never found out why. (I confirmed it to not be dehydration)
It is! Now I just have to get used to 10ks. I was pretty exhausted afterwards. So I think I probably could do with more training for a more confident and less exhausting 10k! πͺππ½ππ€
Yeah, believe me the more you do the more common place they become, and I'm sure your times will improve as well. Doesn't matter if they aren't the fastest in the world π
Fantastic achievement! Also very reassuring for us slow runners! I take about 50 minutes to complete 5k so it really helps me reading about other slow souls! At least youβre out there doing it! πππ
π€π€£Trust, me, Iβm slower than you. I have yet to meet someone who has disclosed a time slower than mine! So if I can do it, anyone can.
On the Festival of Running site I realised I am at the moment one but last! π€£π€£π€£ But there is also an immense enjoyment in running so slow. It is so delicious and meditative. Iβd love to have the choice of being able to chose between faster and slow runs, but I take my wins!
Well youβve definitely made me feel better about my slow runs! Like you I do enjoy them. I found out about the Japanese slow running and decided thatβs the way forward! Slow running all the way! πββοΈ
Congrats on your first 10k πβ it's a great feeling of achievement. I ran my first 10k couple of weeks ago, started C25K last July and my goal was 10k before turning 53 in May. Onwards and upwards over next few weeks we'll done again.
Brilliant, well done. That first 5 and 10k is really something special. I kept looking at Strava all day when I did it just before Christmas, needed the confirmation!
Congratulations! πππ That's brilliant and in only a year! It took me a bit longer to manage a 10k. Snail pace is good - you are in good company here with many lovely, happy snails (me included!).Wishing you many more 10ks in inspiring places π
Hey just come across your post - well done! And congrats on runniversary too! Amazing! It's mine on 13th and while I've got to 60 mins I'm currently on the IC, something which I tried soo hard to avoid, so the 10k is still waiting for me. Go you!π
Thank you! Yes my Runniversary is on the 10th. We can lift a virtual glass of bubbly to each other! How running-rich this year has been! Hope your IC stint will be short.
