Well lovely VRBs, today I ran 15k. I was chuffed to bits at the end as I glanced at Garmin who told me Iβd done it in 2:03:31 - and last week Iβd done my 14k in 2:04:10. Bonus, I wasnβt expecting that. ππββοΈπ
I got a sneaky 10k PB en route too. Happy days. πββοΈπββοΈ
I went dogless as I wasnβt sure how many walkers/dogs thereβd be on the towpath on Bank Holiday Monday. Lucky really, as there were a fair number, plus a friendly horse rider who I passed several times. π My dog is fine with horses, but you never know if horses are fine with dogs. Itβs quite narrow and it might not end well .....
I must say my legs found the last couple of kms fairly hard going, but like last week they carried me successfully to my goal. I did an inward fist pump when I got to 15k, as there were several people around and I didnβt want to look totally bonkers. The red faced grin would have been plenty scary enough for the poor souls! π π₯΅πββοΈ
So next week Iβll βjustβ do 10k (a phrase I never thought Iβd say!), then prepare myself the week after for the big 10 miler to coincide with my runniversary. So exciting! π
You're ahead of me now , but I'm doing 2k jumps so we'll be all square again in a fortnight (assuming all goes well!) - I suppose I'd better make sure I add the extra 90m to my 16k, just to match your 10 miles
Great stuff breaking your 10k PB on the way to a new record distance . That's epic!!
Thanks UTS, oh yes you need to make yours is a round 10 miles too - thereβs a shiny badge to be had! π π π Not that I only run for the bling, but it helps! π
Thanks Jell. Iβm stubborn as a mule, thatβs how. Although Iβve surprised myself with running I must say! π I think endurance is my thing, not speed. π
Well what can I say Cheeky? Blooming awesome! What a brilliant run for you today. I remember the days when bank holiday Mondays were for going to a garden centre! We did JogRunSprint along the prom this morning which wasnβt easy with lots of people out and about but great fun all the same.
Arghh that reminds me, JogRunSprint for me on Thursday! Way harder for me than 15k! Good for you doing it with onlookers on the prom! I think Iβd scare anyone away who watched!
My 10k was 1:18:41. Over a minute quicker than Bristol. ππ
No I doubt that very much Dexy! Youβre smokinβ πββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈ
Thanks so much BBR. I always think walking makes distances seem longer and hills look steeper - there are several undulations on the towpath which are barely noticeable when Iβm running, but I used to dread running them when I used to walk the dog there. Even my husband (who rows on that stretch of the river) was amazed Iβd run the towpath out and back twice! πββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈ
Well done Cheeky, that's an amazing achievement, excellent times too, so lovely to read your enthusiastic post. πI haven't ran for over 3 weeks now due to a dodgy hip but did a very slow short walk/run earlier today, so here's hoping I can return to this fantastic running lark. π€
Aww CB, thanks so much. Yes it felt awesome and the time was an unexpected bonus for me. π
I hope your hip allows you to start up again soon. The weather is beautiful at the moment and not tooooo hot (remember last summer? π₯΅π₯΅π₯΅) Take it easy and youβll be back before you know it. ππ
Wow Cheeky, what a fantastic run. You must feel great. That Runniversary 10 miler is calling your name. Now enjoy the rest of the Bank Holiday πββοΈππ€ΈββοΈ
I didnβt know you had 3 kids, thought you just had 2 girls π³ Weβre just driving to our campsite near San SebastiΓ‘n at the start of our tour of northern Spain so we might be joining you in tapas tonight. I, however, havenβt earned it like you have xx
Itβll improve when it stops raining Iβm sure π’ Ah, your sonβs the same age as mine then - mine is off to Australia on Saturday to meet up with his girlfriend for a 3 week holiday, lucky thing!
Oh no, you have rain? Shame, although being Spain surely it wonβt last long π€ Have fun! Any running to be had - and any parkruns? πββοΈπββοΈπββοΈ
Going to be high 20s by the weekend apparently π¬ I am going to make the effort to get out for a run, but I donβt think Spain does parkrun. Still struggling a bit with what was the worst head cold Iβve had for years but getting better. Iβve still got to do my May 10k having had my race cancelled and am running out of time!
Ooo high 20βs, thatβs more like it! βοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈ
Have fun finding a 10k route - are you good at trailblazing, or do you map your route out first? I need to know where Iβm going otherwise I might bite off more than I can chew! Have fun, no matter where you run! πββοΈπͺπΈβοΈ
Thanks SSF, no I certainly didnβt! Itβs all down to these forums. I posted last time that Iβd be doing 15k today, and there was no way I was going back on my word! You guys all keep me accountable. β€οΈ
Weβre out for a family meal later - tapas - and Iβm not sharing!! π π
Congrats and very well done to you on reaching 15K. Last weekend I did 12K and yesterday morning I got up to 14K. I was exhausted at the end. I would have struggled to get to get 1 more kilometre done. I definitely didnβt have the energy to punch the air. So very well done you. Iβm just going to stick to 10K for my long run next Sunday.
I know just how you felt Damien. Well done for getting to 14k. ππ
My pace definitely slowed right up in the last 2k, but I wasnβt worried about that. Iβll be doing 10k next week too. Itβs odd to think that 10k doesnβt seem so long now! π
Thanks CH, I really enjoyed it and I know my legs can push to 10 miles in a couple of weeks. So exciting reaching a big landmark, as you know all too well! πββοΈπͺ
Aww thanks Paula, my little legs are the heros. Who knew they could carry me so far?! πββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈ
Brilliant run CC. You are running out of sight! A flying chipmunk πΏ I did JogRunSprint today... went well until the last 500 metres cool down when my calf complained again! Ice time π€£π... fun though βοΈβοΈ
Thanks so much Deals! I think I might need tissues once I complete 10 miles. Itβll such a mammoth milestone! And thereβs you with your speed! πββοΈπββοΈπββοΈ Isnβt running amazing? πππ
I do feel for you Wimborne. π Stay upbeat, you know weβre all here for you. The runs will all be there waiting, and youβll come back when youβre ready and youβll smash them! ππββοΈπ
Wow Cheeky, that's really great! Happy runniversary. It's one year today for me too. No running planned today though. 15km in less than your 14km time! What a result! πͺπβ‘οΈ
Thanks Baddie, and happy runniversary to you! Can you believe what weβve achieved in 12 months? I certainly canβt - I used to scoff at runners. How wrong was I? π
Yes, youβre so right there JoJo. Thereβll be one heck of a fist pump and a massive whoop after my 10 miler in a couple of weeks, you can guarantee that! πππββοΈπ
Wow cheeky, your really motoring (running!!) Fab time too. Iβm back on w3 after 4 months off ( re started C25K from W1) managed 3k so not as slow as l should be. 10 miles is one heck of an achievement, well run you πππ
How great that youβre back running too, just in time for the summer. I bet it was hard being out for 4 months. Good for you for restarting at W1. Steady progress will get you there - as youβre clearly discovering! ππββοΈ
Wonderful, very well done. 15k is really fantastic π. It is very different running dogless isn't it. I have to really concentrate when I run with doggie!! πΎππ¦π and squirrels are rather exciting!
Enjoy your runniversary 10 miles, l look forward to your post about it.
Thanks SS! I love to run with my dog whenever I can, but Bank Holidays can be really busy and I didnβt want to be constantly wondering what she was up to - she likes to find things to roll in and the river is always appealing too! Sheβs helping me volunteer at PR tomorrow and yesterday she was laughing at me doing JogRunSprint, so sheβs not being too neglected running-wise! πββοΈπ
Itβs an app that some of use to do intervals. Jog 30 seconds, run 20 seconds, sprint 10 seconds. You can programme in the number of intervals/sets you do. Give it a try if you fancy! Itβs fun (and hard work too!) πββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈ
The beauty of JogRunSprint is that youβre prompted exactly when to increase/decrease pace. I personally found it very easy to set up - and believe me, Iβm not techy! π
Have fun, no matter how you decide to do your intervals. ππββοΈπ
