Happy Parkrun Day everyone. I’m looking forward to being a 30 minute Pacer today. I get to run and volunteer at the same time. 😀😀

Post run report: I loved volunteering as a pacer for my first time today at my local Parkrun. I had 7 people following me, all aiming for a sub 30 minute 5K. 6 of them were just ahead of me crossing the line and one girl tried her hardest but struggled to keep up. When I crossed the line and collected my token the girl came up to me about 10 seconds later and said that she had tried her hardest but could not catch me and I knew she was a little disappointed that she did not get her sub 30 min Parkrun time.

But I’d ran a 5:59 min/km pace just so as to have a little insurance. When I congratulated her and showed her the finish time of 29:39.6 on my watch she hugged me. She was just 10 seconds behind me at the finish so I’m confident that she did it today.

I struggled to do a sub 30 minute 5k myself 3 months ago.

Such an important job, well done. I was aiming for sub 38 minutes today and just over half way realised I was behind the 40 minute pacer. I ran with her for a while and she said that she was actually aiming for a little under because she didn’t want people to follow her aiming for 40 and being disappointed.

Yeah I was the same. I just aimed to come in a little under. You’ll get your sub 38 5K soon again. I just love the buzz of Parkrun.

My official time was 37:59 so I’m happy! Strava said 37:04 so even better.

Thank you. I was a marshal last week as I was doing a 10K last Sunday. It was great being a volunteer and being able to run today. Best of both worlds.

Our PR doesn’t have pacers which is a shame. I’d like a 34 minute one! I need a new PB! 😅😅

My local Parkrun does pacers for the first Saturday of every month. There were 35, 32, 30, 29, 28, 25 and 22 minute pacers today.
