I went out yesterday evening for a 5K run, just a nice gentle consolidation run. I was running along my usual route when I bumped into a fellow parkrunner at the 3Km mark. We don't know each other very well, but always used to have a friendly pre or post run chat at our local parkrun. We both stopped, paused our running watches and had a lovely chat. He told me that parkrun will finally be returning in the Republic of Ireland on the 11th of September. Well I was so excited and after our chat I ran home and checked online. Sure enough, he was right, and my local parkrun will be back on the 11th of September. Some of the busier Dublin parkrun courses will have to wait a little longer as there is a restriction on any outdoor gathering of over 500 people. But my local is usually 120 to 160 runners and walkers so we will be fine and so too are 90% of parkrun courses in Ireland. Yahoo!!! Just 10 more sleeps. π
Yahoo !!!! I feel like celebrating. - Bridge to 10K
Yahoo !!!! I feel like celebrating.
Woohoo!
Brilliant news Damien π πππ
Such great news Damien! ππ»π₯°ππ
Great news for you, enjoy dreaming of runs over those 10 sleeps π€
That's great news. Looking forward to my first Park run-i suspect it's one of the smaller ones, so hopefully will be going ahead.
That's fantastic news Damien, about 3 weeks earlier than we all thought it would be, excellent news, by the way I ran my 64th (not ) parkrun this morning, another PB, last week my time was 31.52, this morning I ran it in a time of of 31.31, another red PB next to my username on the parkrun website, this coming Saturday I will be running my 20th Official Parkrun.
Oh the excitement Damienair, itβs oozing out of your post. How brilliant for you. I bet Oisin will start training again now too. I think the Dublin runners may want to join other parkruns if they canβt go to their own. In England they said you shouldnβt go to other parkruns but it hasnβt happened that way.
Yes I think that will happen. But most parkruns outside of Dublin are not very big with about 150-200 runners and walkers most weeks. Some are even way smaller than that. So as long as there is not a mass arrival at a smaller parkrun all should be fine.It is great news. We are a lot slower and more cautious opening up here, but this really for me is a reason to celebrate. I needed this as I have lost so much fitness and motivation over the last 18 months. Now I have a reason to train harder again.
Was your run home to check faster than the rest of the running today? π€£
Ha Ha. In fact yes. I ran splits of 6.50, 6.53, 7.02, 6.53 and 6.06
And then burst through the door to check for official parkrun news.
π
Oh that's fabulous news Damien! I bet you can't wait to get out there with the other runners on that Saturday morning. Have fun and of course we shall expect a full report
Iβm so pleased for you Damien! Thatβs really good news!
What good news, youβll love that
Yayyyy!!!!!
Fantastic news! And I hope you don't attract too many parkrun tourists to your local one π²Not that they wouldn't be welcome π π€£
So glad to hear that Damien! π
Didn't run it myself, but there was a Park Run there the day I visited - Johns town Castle, a fewiles outside Wexford town. Absolutely beautiful grounds to run through and an impressive castle. If you ever get a chance, try it (and take lots of photos - its a genuinely awesome place, especially when everything is flowering
Thanks. Iβve done 20 different parkruns in Ireland so far including one in Belfast. I also have one done in Bristol. I am planning on doing most parkruns in Ireland over time. So will hopefully get to that one some day.
OMG!!! That is such brilliant news!!!I think we all know one excited little bunny here ππ°
