Good things come slow... Paul ... I did this one for you...

...especially in ( distance) running.

Bill Dellinger got it right..

I ran today... it was a rotten route... it had roadworks... a ravine of a hill that I nearly rolled down, a really, relentless slog of a hill to climb back up... and rain... lots of it!!!

But... it was relaxed... I took my time... I listened to my body... I heard what it said...I ran the run at my, oh so, well known pace and I had a really slow few Ks, where I just took it as it came:)

This run was for you paul1960 ... and just look how I slowed down in Lap 4 :) I had to!

And Paul. when I was wet through and hungry... I went home too :)

Wow 13k! That is a long way!! Well done πŸ‘πŸ» πŸ˜ƒ I tried to run faster the other day in anticipation of doing my first park run this Saturday I just wanted to be faster! I hated it, I wasn’t that much faster for what felt like an enormous amount of effort and my calf hurt! So today I plodded slower than normal and loved every minute of it 🐌

That's the way to do it! Slow is good. At least until later (How much later depends on lots of things)...

It is.... and then you do build up, so that the speed is there, if, and when you need it...a bit like overtaking in a car really!

I just let the legs do the talking... well done youx

Nice running! The stats and your words really show your fitness level... you had to slow down in split 4... look what you did after you recovered! Very inspirational.

Amazing number Oldfloss. Maintaining 8ish/Km over 13Km is really strong.

Thank you my friend... x I will get there... !

Rest day tomorrow is cycling the route of my HM...with Mr OF... we are taking a picnic... and I suspect that the cycling will be easier than the running... but.. I know the route, have walked and cycled it many times... so it will be fun :)

Wow OF, 13k and the talk of HM. You’ll be leaving little old me for dust, snailing away doing 10k or less! Really well done! πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ˜€πŸ‘πŸ’ͺπŸ™Œβ€οΈ

Thank you... I am just trying to get back on track after the bad weather.. though today was so wet and chilly! Yesterday I was outside with a sun hat on!

I need to get on with some longer runs for my HM... but you know me, I won't be rushed:)

That’s an excellent idea, I hope the weather is kind to you and your picnic. It’s been a very soggy day here too, glad I did my run yesterday.

All fine here thanks 😊 Eldest kitten says πŸ‘‹ btw (he just hovered over my shoulder) 😁

Thanks you..it was a tad trying in parts, but mainly I posted the run, to show that we do slow down in runs.. and it's fine.... some folk still worrying about not moving quickly all the time:)

I did do it.. and I'm dry now:)xx

It might have been a rotten route Floss but you did it πŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺ A great run.

I hope it was afterwards when the podiatrist worked her magic on those hard worked feet πŸ™‚ xxx

Thank you so much for posting this, Floss! When I (eventually) start to increase my distance, I'll have a mental picture to hold on to, to remind me it's ok to run at a manageable speed for me! 🐌

Oldfloss profile image
OldflossAdministratorGraduate10β€’ in reply togrumpyoldgirl

So true...I would not have posted my info , but some folk do worry about whether they should be running at the same pace through all runs and are a tad afraid of slowing it down..not me... I am always ready for a breather :) Thank you...:) x

Nice running Oldfloss! My first non-stop 13k took over 2 hours. And that was January this year.

It seems you are already warmed up for longer distances! Good luck with your next big run! 😸
