I didn’t do park run yesterday as most of my local ones were cancelled due to icy paths so I had a lie in. I’m still not feeling 100% after getting the lurgy on 2nd December and having sinus problems. I decided this morning I would head out for a 5k and hoping I could do it - it was freezing cold and I found the first 5 minutes absolute hell, I couldn’t breathe properly and wanted to turn round and go home but I was on a downhill part so kept on. My breathing calmed down and I just ran and it felt good. I started the run back uphill (so tough and I was so slow) running past a road being tarmaced (spelling?) and it smelled lovely - took big deep breaths in there ☺️. Made it to the top of the hill and my watch was 4.5k so carried on until it beeped that I had made it. Felt good afterwards but I’m still worrying about a run I have booked in February (11th) where I need to be able to run just over 10k (a distance I haven’t ran for about 2 months 😳).
Not sure if I enjoyed that run.: I didn’t do... - Bridge to 10K
Not sure if I enjoyed that run.
Well done for keeping going, that first 5 - 10 minutes is even worse than normal with the very cold weather. I think you are being hard on yourself, it's really cold and you weren't feeling 100% but you carried on and did 5k 👍🙌👍Would you be able to Jeff your February run if needed?
I feel your concern...and my 10K isn't until April. You are under par..its so cold...I think you did wonderfully. I am still waiting for the ice to thaw...! I am so worried about a first run...Just do what you feel able...and take it steady.. you do it your way .Well done you.
I think it's all been said but I'll say it again, it's cold out there and you're not feeling 100% fit after all those bugs and you still kept going and did 5k. Be kinder to yourself (advice I need to take myself ☺️). As for the 10k, there's still some time between now and then for you to feel more like yourself but just do it your way, it's supposed to be fun not punishment after all. Take care of yourself.
