That was a shade easier than I expected. Managed to keep a decent pace going with a 140bpm playlist (I need a 150bpm one as I was running above the beat most of the time - I over-allowed for the extra distance). 8min/k average over 6k is pretty amazing to me.
I think investing a few weeks in getting comfortable at running 5ks was time well spent and I’m reaping the rewards.
No blonde today - a rainstorm hit Just as I was due to go out the door at same time as last week to try to cross her path and made me about 10 mins late. Sirens Hill on the way back to a weird Rita Coolidge version of “Your love keeps lifting me higher”.
Got back and my legs knew they had run. Confident for 7k next weekend. Thanks for all of the support on here or on Strava, it really helps.
Whatever run you have next, enjoy it.

Great stuff Jay ….. I'm keeping more or less in step with you, today's Parkrun was W3R1 for me, after 6k on Wednesday - but you'll be ahead after my next week in the mountains - not that it's a race, obviously
I’m mighty impressed, Jay! I know that I’ve got to start doing some longer runs if I’m going to be joining you on that Manchester 10K next May!!
I’m as keen as ever and do 5K runs three times a week, varying my route and also did 5.5K last weekend, but that wasn’t really planned. Maybe I need to start the 10K plan like you and follow a structured programme.
Strongly recommend it. It’s another clearly thought out plan and I’ve got complete faith it will get me to 10k. Once 5k is properly cracked, this is a perfect next step imo.
I’m already thinking about what next 😳 - someone suggested building to 2k beyond your target so that an event feels easier, so I’m going to try to keep going up to about 12k and make that my long run each week.
And I can’t even believed I’ve typed that, given how hard W1R1 was just 4 months ago....
But it all makes sense; part of the reason for my delaying the 10K plan is that you revert to shorter runs and I’m used to doing the full 5K now. But I understand that to get further, I need to follow a plan and I’ll definitley be giving it a go.
