gym: went gym last night good work but found... - Bridge to 10K
gym
Well done Paul.... probably just because you have been outdoor running now... so different...indoors it is essentially the same action for each and every run...outdoors.. each run is a constant changing experience....
i realy struggled doing 20 mins it was haed
It can happen..maybe just tired...
i hope so it realy put me off last abit worried did 15mins on stair climber fine 20mins rowing fine just that dredmill not happy at all
Just try and move on from it Paul... it does happen.. sometimes I head out and think goodness, this is hard work. Everything you are doing is benefiting you... however hard it feels.. it is not a backward step...Maybe too, try and get a home routine going... no equipment needed, to build up your stamina and core strength...make it a daily habit?
Totally different and really boring on a treadmill Paul
i know but done loads on tredmill now it was realy hard last night to do 20 mins
With so much snow on the ground I did my first run ever proper run on a treadmill last night, not at all what I was was expecting, I had a rough idea of what mph pace I should go at to replicate outside, it was too fast, thought my maths were up the Swanee, slowed it down, it measured distance in km, my first 0.5 km check point I was 10 mins off my comfortable 5k time and I was not feeling comfortable : (
I am going to be here all night
Checked cadence, no higher, similar to outside,
Managed to get my WK3 short 3,5 k Ju Ju plan run done, but it felt like a 10k
I had a read up on it last night, lots of people experience similar, outdoor runners are constantly adjusting pace and effort as they travel along and struggle with the constant speed of a treadmill, made sense. I found something else with a pace converter from TM to O/S which suggested I was going beyond my 5k PB pace !
I hope the snow melts quick😆
The clever people on the interweb reckon it’s good to incorporate it into your training, I thinks I will maybe a 1/2 run, one every couple of weeks, Leave pace outside and do an interval run to effort,
So another new running experience and a big respect for treadmill runners 😁
I find I can run about 1k an hour faster on a treadmill than outside with ease. I can run at silly speeds also without much discomfort, ie 4min per k etc, Because it is really just rythmic bouncing and the higher you bounce the longer you stay in the air and the more belt passes underneath you. Treadmills therefore are a pretty poor approximation of running outside.
Everyone has bad runs. Normal. No obvious reason why either for many. They make the good ones sweeter 👌🏽
Don't stress it. Everyone one has off sessions. ...and the dreadmill is terrible (in my experience)
Running in the fresh air is a completely different experience to being inside a smelly gym! If you find somewhere aesthetic to run you will have lovely things to look at, birds to listen to, spring flowers to watch popping up etc. As it’s so more interesting an environment than a gym you won’t even realise that you’re running!
Reading some of these replies was weird for me. I ONLY run on a treadmill as I find outside too tiring! Bizarre. I do like the constancy of a treadmill and the way I can regulate my pace. Since finishing last year have kept up with running and have gradually increased my pace, albeit on a treadmill. Perhaps I'll pluck up courage to run outside this summer. But keep up the running Paul it does wonders for you even if one run is bit harder.
i did all my c25k on the dredmill and i did not want to run outside it took a long time to get out there but trust me when i say you will love it when you get out there you will find the dredmill boring honest give it a go and let me know
