At the start of the month I set myself the challenge of continuing to run 3 times a week and to do a 10k run each month. As today is 27th and I still hadn’t done 10k I’d decided today would have to be the day. Then I saw the weather forecast - rain, high winds and feeling like -1. Against all odds the sky is blue, the sun is shining and a moderate wind. Definitely chilly but wrapped up warm and set off. During the run the gloves came off, then the bobble hat, then the fleece and still arrived home flushed and sweaty. 1 hour 9 minutes and 22 seconds, which is 28 seconds slower than my first 10k but on my own and with a headwind, I’m happy. Now for a shower, a bacon sarnie and see if there’s any skiing on Eurosport! Happy Sunday 😃😃

Well done, the weather was definitely better than I had feared. I had some bright sunshine for my 9k.

Thanks Cheeky! Never feels as though I’m going fast and my lovely hubby says I look like those wind up toys you could get when we were kids, but it works for me 😃 Did a NRC intervals run on Friday and it nearly killed me 😂

Hahaha, I remember those toys! I’m sure you don’t! 😅😅

I did intervals recently too. I never realised how hard they were 🥵 🥵 Still, no pain, no gain for us athletes! 😅😅😅

I know - my average km time wasn’t any faster than my normal speed but, oh boy, did my lungs and legs feel it 😫

Thanks Flara! I’ve got my first proper 10k race on 7 April so I thought I need to make sure I carry on with the longer runs. I’m roughly following ju-ju’s plan again but in 4-5 weeks instead of 8. It seems to be working so far 😃🏃‍♀️

...the gloves are off! 👊

...round 2 🔔 🥊

That 10K was definitely getting knocked out today Spitfire ...sounds like we’ve all been fighting that wind today!

Great job 👍

Great run Sandie. Bit of weather doesn't bother you!! I have gone for the 1x10k per month or thereabouts too, starting at 4x5x6 and adding 1k to the last run each week. Working so far. Yesterday was an 8k. It was windy but not too cold. I must have looked shattered afterwards because an (I should say another) oldish bloke in the cafe told me I should give up running at my age or it would give me arthritis! Where do these myths come from? I had a flash back to my mother saying that I would pay for it when I got old if I didn't wear a vest on school days. Next week looks as though it will be really cold; minuses all over the place. Still.......got to be done! 💪💪

😂 nice one Beachcomber! Along with you’ll catch a cold if you don’t button your coat and you’ll go blind if you read under the covers! Anybody would look a bit windswept in this weather. Cheeky soandso - you’re not that old 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♂️
