Joyful 10k

Inspired by Bluebirdrunner and SaskAlliecat's posts (which I read before setting out today) about seeking joy in every run I decided to make today's run a longer one (I had been umming and aahhring) and join together two of my more scenic Oxford routes for a dawn run.

And what joy there was - sunrise over the Thames; pink, yellow and blue skies; golden buildings, graceful swans, early morning rowers and to cap it all off a rainbow!

AND an effortless 10k pb AND the first time I've ever felt I could have pushed further at the end of a 10k.

Joyous indeed. Thanks for the inspiration ladies! 😊

Happy weekend running!

I love this forum I certainly wouldn't have set out for a longer run if I hadn't read some of the posts on here first.

And it was such a lovely run - so glad I didn't miss it! 😊

What a wonderful start to your weekend Deb! Such beautiful scenes, and you were running comfortably... (but quick enough for a PB!)πŸ˜†

Swans and A RAINBOW! that puts it in a different league. What a special run, that streak you have done must have played a part and how exciting knowing you were capable of running further!πŸ˜‰

Well done😊xxx

I will have to find and read SaskAlliecats post too!

It was beautiful and felt so good. I wish it were possible to know in advance the runs that would be like that (and bottle the feeling after!).

SaskAlliecat's post made we yearn for bright frost mornings - we definitely haven't had enough of those.

It was lovely and made me feel less bitter about spending much of the rest of the day working.

Couldn't quite believe the time because although it felt quite pacy - it also felt really comfortable.

Have promised myself that tomorrow is work free and just for me 😊.

I know - seeing the time afterwards almost made me wish I hadn't stopped so much but couldn't have not captured that beautiful dawn.

What beautiful photos Deb, they really capture your dawn run. Oxfordshire must be so lovely for running. An excellent time for your 10k too - what’s not to like?

I sometimes forget how lovely it is - familiarity breeds contempt and all that.

It was certainly beautiful this morning 😊.

Such gorgeous pictures! Hard to not find joy with scenery like that. Your run sounds absolutely magical and an effortless 10k pb. What’s not to like. That mini-streak must’ve really agreed with you.

It's definitely made me feel fitter. Though I so nearly didn't attempt a longer run today after the slog of a 10k I dragged myself last weekend. It was all good paths and pretty flat though to be fair.

A nice hard frost was all that was missing 😊.

Thank you. It was the kind of run that makes all the difficult ones worthwhile.

Yes - actually the first time I've really felt that after a 10k 😊. No HMs for me though I don't think!
